My eyesight is 6/12 can i join any course of merchant navy? i am a commerce student.

no u did not join bcz they keep dmand for 6/6 vision with clear fogging test without any surgery so plz be sorry

dear friend, 6/12 eye sight is enough to join merchant navy in any course.
you will not face any problem from your eye sight. so you should remove the fear from your mind.

you need 6/6 to 6/9 upto in merchant navy.
you should go for eye operation and correction.
best of luck.

If you want to go in B.tech or GME than there is no problem and your number should be between -, 2.5 not more than that........but if you want to go for DNS you will not be qualified......6\12 is enough for B.Tech and GME

you can apply as the needed sight is 6/15 upto.
also laser correction is now available now a days.

You can join any course of merchant navy with eyesight 6/12 provided your vision is 6/6 with Spacks. You must go for medical after putting correct number of spacks. Do not worry at all.

The eyes are very weak. You can not join merchant navy. They demand 6/6 with color vision. Also you can go for Laser treatment if possible.

I am BTECh(IT).My eyesight is -4.5. Can't i apply for SAIL,ONGC,ECIL or other government job even if it get corrected by laser? I read in their criteria that eye sight should be - 4 by max.

no u cant join because they want people with perfect vision..6/6
u might try if u want to but in the physical fitness test..they will rule u out..
but if u are above 20 yrs or above..then u can do LASIK eye surgery to restore ur vision..but that should be done only with the advice of ur parents and doctor..

No , normal vision of 6/6 of each eyes is essential in any course of merchant navy . So really sorry to say that you are not eligible for the courses.

YES, you can join merchant navy.

But you are eligible to do only MARINE ENGINEERING course not the NAUTICAL SCIENCE course.

Because nautical science required a perfect eyesight 6/6.

And for marine engineering use of corrective lenses for eyesight is permitted but the maximum permissible limits at entry are 6/12 in each eye or 6/9 in better eye and 6/18 in other eye for distant unaided vision. But
Color blindness is not permitted.

>>Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Mumbai.
