Introduction The Staff Selection Commission (S.S.C.) conducts this examination every year for recruitment to the following posts: Inspectors' of Central Excise in different Collectorates of Central Excise. Examiner (Ordinary Grade) in Custom House at Mumbai, Calcutta, Goa, Cochin, Chennai and Vishakhapatnam. Preventive Officer (Ordinary Grade) in Custom Houses at Mumbai, Calcutta, Goa, Cochin, Chennai and Vishakhapatnam. Inspector of Income Tax in different charges of the Commissioner of Income-Tax. Assistant Enforcement Officers in the Directorate of Enforcement (FERA). The examination is held once a year, generally in the month of April. Blank application forms and other particulars are usually published in the Employment News in November of last year. The last date for the submission of application is usually the last week of December of last year. Eligibility Age: A candidate must have attained the age of 18 years and must not have attained the age of 25 years on the first July of the year of examination. The upper age limit is relaxable in respect of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes Other Backward Classes, Departmental candidates and such other categories of persons as may be decided from time to time. Educational Qualifications: A candidate must hold degree of a recognized University, or equivalent. Scheme Of The Examination The examination comprises: Written Examination in subjects set out as follows Interview for Personality Test for such candidates as may qualify in the Written Test. Re: How to become an income tax officer? Only through SSC exam you can be Income tax officer. The exam is conducted every year & the pattern of this exam is objective type questions. the question consist of reasoning, maths, English etc. After written exam you will be called for Interview, then you will be selected. |

Age The candidate must have attained the age of 18 years on 1st July of the year of examination and must not have attained 27 years of age on that date. The upper age limit is also relaxed in favor of certain categories of employees working under the Government of India and Defense Services Personnel. Process to become an Income Tax Officer To be an ITO officer one has to follow the below given steps:- Step 1 As a first step the aspirant has to procure the “Application Form” along with required information from the employment newspaper generally published in the month of April. sent the filled Application form to the regional centers as mentioned. Note:- The notification for the examination with relevant details regarding rules and syllabus is published in the month of April in the 'Employment News' / 'Rozgar Samachar' , 'Gazette of India', and in some leading Newspapers of the country. Step 2 Preliminary Examination In the month of May or June the aspirants have to take the “Preliminary examinations” consisting of two papers. The papers are on:
Note:- This exam is just a qualifying exam for the Final exam and scores obtained in this exam are not added to make the final result. Step 3 Main Examination Those candidates who are declared qualified in the “Preliminary examination” are supposed to take the final exam. Final examination will consists of two part .Part A will be of written examination and second Part B will be of Personality Test.
Step 4 Personality Test Once you are through the final stage is the interview. The aspirants are grilled in the interview to test their personality and mental ability. Then the final list of the successful candidates is prepared |

Its a great opportunity for you that your examination as The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts this examination every year Income Tax Officer Exam is conducted by SSC to recruit the Income Tax Officer. Eligibility To become an Income tax officer * Candidates should have age limit must be within 18 to 25 years. * Candidates should complete graduation from a recognized university. * The exam is of three types Preliminary exam, Main Exam, Interview. * Exam subjects are General Intelligence,Arithmetical Ability,General English. If you are already a graduate, you will need to pass the examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (S.S.C.) which happens every year for recruitment to Income Tax Department. The examination is held once a year, generally in the month of April. The examination comprises of Written examination and an Interview for Personality Test for such candidates as may qualify in the written test. The subjects of the examination are General Intelligence, General English, Arithmetical Ability, General Awareness. To clear the exam you should have the ability to work hard for long hours, dedication, total focus towards studies and a keen interest in current affairs.
