Re: How to become an income tax officer?
There is a common misconception among the students that the Civil Service are meant only for IAS, IFS and IPS. The other profile may not have as high but in terms of work and challeneges thay are just a rewarding.
Besides IAS, IPS and IFS, Civil service also conatains two sub groups namely- Group- A and Group- B. So there are all totl three categories in Civil service. Group- A contains:
Group - B Contains:
The Income Tax Department is a part of Indian Revenue Service(IRS). So, we have two modes of entries in Income Tax Department. 1) Through Civil Service: As I discussed above Income Tax Department is also a part of civil service, so the whole process is as same as for others its your ranking and scores in entrance which will decide you to get there. By going through Civil Service candidate can expect 'High Ranking Post' like- Assistant Commissioner etc. 2) Through Staff Selection Commission (SSC): It is a Designated body of Government of India whose objective is to Recruite various types Group - 'C' or III level recruitment. Lower Division Post like- Sub-Inspector, Inspector, Assiatant etc. comes under group- C hece recruiment are made by SSC. Eiligibility: Candidate must be a Graduate in any decipline. Selection: it made through a Written Test and Interview. A combined Graduate Level Entrance is conducted whereas successfull candidates only are called for Interview by sending a call letter. Entrance are held generally in July and Notifictions re released in March-April in "Employment NEws" Official Site:- http://ssc.nic.in Regrads ~Faiyaz~ |

Re: How to become an income tax officer?
Sir, The SSC selected Inspector directly from graduation level exam. and the Income Tax Officer is a purely promotion post. I hear that there is a shortage of Income Tax Officer in the department, and the department is going to appoint Income Tax Officer directly. Please guide me, is it correct. If yes, please tell me which of the agency UPSC/SSC will conduct the examination for the post of Income Tax Officer directly.

Re: How to become an income tax officer?
Hi,
first and the foremost thing would be to become a graduate. If you are already a graduate, you will need to pass the examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (S.S.C.) which happens every year for recruitment to Income Tax Department. The examination is held once a year, generally in the month of April. The examination comprises of Written examination and an Interview for Personality Test for such candidates as may qualify in the written test. The subjects of the examination are General Intelligence, General English, Arithmetical Ability, General Awareness. To clear the exam you should have the ability to work hard for long hours, dedication, total focus towards studies and a keen interest in current affairs. You may refer this website for more details http://ssc.nic.in/exams_syllabus8.htm . Hope this helps |
