Re: Am I eligible to do IES after doing BS through distance? I have cmpleted BS ( marine engineering ) four year course from tolani maritime institute , where the degree is issued by BITS PILANI. Am I eligible for IES examination ?? |

Re: Am I eligible to do IES after doing BS through distance? Sir,I have completed Diploma in mechanical Engineering, now i am pursuing BS(First year) Engineering Technology in Bits,Pilani (Distance education), am i eligible for Indian Engineering Services exams, If i am eligible when can i apply. |

I am afraid but you are not eligible to give this exam since only B.Tech students and some PG students are only eligible to give this exam. Please read this full eligibility criteria to know more about it. IES Eligibility Criteria: >>If you have a four year B.Tech degree in mechanical, electrical, civil or electronics and communication engineering can apply for this exam. >>If you have a M.Sc degree in areas like electronics, radio physics, radio engineering or wireless communication can also apply. Stream wise exam pattern:  At the most you can give the exam for four times. Selection procedure includes written test and personality test. But since you have done BS, Bachelor of Science, which is a three year course only, much different from B Tech /BE course, so it means you can not write IES exam just after completing BS, you need to complete Msc in Maths/ Science/ Statistics as well. After that you can apply for IES exam. So you need a degree in Engineering from a recognised university or equivalent. M.Sc degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communications, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering are also acceptable. There is no limitation on number of attempts. But there is age criteria , according to which, 21-30 yrs are eligible, with relaxation for reserved categories. Number of vacancies are approx, 500 divided among electrical, civil , mechanical and ece departments. If you want more information about this examination then please check official UPSC Website. |
