Re: What are the qualifications needed to join Indian Navy or Indian Air Force? To join Indian navy and air force first you need to crack NDA exam. NDA stands for National Defence Academy. This exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission two times in a year. NDA-I and NDA-II NDA has three wings: Indian Navy Indian Air force Indian Army Eligibility Criteria: Candidate should be citizen of India. You must complete the 10 2 or any equivalent course from recognised state board. Indian Air force and Navy you need PCM subjects are compulsory. Candidate age limit should be between 16.5 to 19 years. Only unmarried male candidates are eligible. Female candidates are not eligible. Selection Procedure: Written Test Medical Test Interview |

Candidate must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in the higher secondary examination and atleast, have 40% in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English. During the time of admission, he should be 17 1/2 years and must not be over 23 years of age. After or during the +2 tenure, interested candidates need to write NDA Exam for the Army wing of National Defense Academy. Candidates willing to join Indian Army through NDA Exam do not need to have studied Mathematics in the higher secondary level. On medical rounds, medical and physical standards to be met for joining the Indian Army. Candidate must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in the higher secondary examination and atleast, have 40% in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English. During the time of admission, he should be 17 1/2 years and must not be over 23 years of age. The minimum academic qualification with which a candidate can be eligible to join Indian Navy or Indian Air Force is by completion of 12th class. However the candidates who have completed their Graduation can also be eligible to join Navy and Air Force. If you want to join on the basis of 12th class, you have to crack NDA Exam. But if you want to join on the basis of your Graduation, then you have to crack Combined Defence Services Exam. Both the Exams will be conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) but NDA Exam will be conducted twice in a year where as CDS Exam will be conducted only once in a year. It is mandatory that the candidate should have gone through Mathematics and Physics subjects at 10+2 level to apply for NDA Exam and at Graduation level to apply for CDS Exam especially if the candidates want to join Navy or Air Force. One good thing is that there is no percentage of marks criteria required for the candidates at academic levels in order to apply for these Exams. For NDA Exam, the required age is 16 1/2 years to 19 years. For CDS Exam, it will be in the range of 19-22 years. Soon after the any of these written exams, you have to give Interview to confirm your final selection. Check yourself with the above mentioned criteria and apply for the respective Exam. To join any of the defence service, you have to write NDA Exam. NDA means National Defence Academy. Every year NDA Exam will be conducted by UPSC twice a year. By showing good performance in this exam, number of candidates will join defence services like Army wing Navy wing Air Force wing One should be having Mathematics and Physics as the compulsory subjects in 12th class in order to be eligible for this exam. The candidate should be a citizen of India. The candidate should be unmarried male candidate to write the exam. The candidate should be in the age group of 16 1/2 years to 19 years to write the exam. You did not mention your academic qualification. If you have completed 12th class and having this criteria, then you can write NDA Exam. Have good preparation for the exam and crack it.
