Re: Am i eligible for IPS exam if my height is 163 Cm? Sir..my height is 148 cms and my category is OBC. But in the official notification, the height relaxation of 145 cms is there for only ST category.but im keen interested in ips. Is there any chance for me to qualify if im of 148 cms |

For IPS officer post you must fulfill following Physical Criteria: Height: -Male: 165 cm (general), 162.5 cm (ST) -Female: 155 cm (general) 154 cm (ST) Chest: Min. 77 cm and expansion of 5cm Eye Sight: -Good eye: 6/6 or 6/9 -Worst Eye: 6/12 or 6/9 In addition to above you must be a Graduate in any discipline from a recognised University. Your age should be between 21 to 30 years if you are General Category. 5 years relaxation for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC Category is available. Re: Am i eligible for IPS exam if my height is 163 Cm? Hi friend,  Sorry, you are not eligible for IPS exams. I.P.S. stands for Indian Police Services. The height of the candidate must be above 165 cms for General category and 160 cms for OBC/SC/ST Category. And for female candidates the minimum height is 155 cms for General category and 154 cms for SC/ST/OBC category. Don't be tense, you can apply for Indian Army, C.R.P.F etc. I hope the information helps you. Best of luck........ |

The acronym for IPS is Indian Police Services. If, you belong to ST category, then, obviously you are eligible for IPS examination, because ST category contenders has height relaxation. The eligibility criteria required for IPS examination are prescribed as below:- * Completion of graduation in any discipline from any recognized college or university. * Final year contenders are also eligible. * Age limit:- 21-30 yrs. * Age relaxation:- 3 yrs for OBC and 5 yrs for SC/ST contenders. * Nationality:- Indian. * No. of attempts:- 4 for General, 7 for OBC and no attempts for SC/ST contenders. * Physical eligibility:-  |

IPS - Indian Police Service and to become an IPS officer you need to have minimum prescribed Physical requirement such as:- The General/OBC Male candidate should have minimum 165cm while it should be 150cm for Female candidate while SC/ST Male should be at least 160cm and Female 150cm. ELIGIBILITY : PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: You should complete the Graduation from any recognized university. No percentage required for this exam. Your age limit should be between 21 to 30 years. 3 years upper relaxation for OBC. 5 years upper relaxation for SC\ST. 10 years upper relaxation for PH. Both male & female candidates are eligible. But candidates should be Indian. Selection Process: Preliminary Exam Main Exam Interview All the best................ |

so first of all you have to secure such a good rank that you can opt for the IPS; as IPS rank is not an easy task. then have to pass all other physical requirements, medical fitness test etc. if all tests you will pass in good range then only because of your height you wont be rejected. so dont worry! concentrate and study success will touch your feet. Physical Requirements for IPS:- Eye sight – 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. Near vision J1 for good eye. J2 for worst eye. The correction by lenses only. High standard for the Colour-blind test. No inherent night blindness. Vision should stereoscopic. Ear- good listening & normal ear cavity. 1000 to 4000 frequency hearing impairment should not be more than 30 decibels. Nasal- clear and free from any polyps and injury, both nasal passages should be clear. Speech-The candidate should not stammer while speaking. Height – Male 165 cm Male general & (SC/ ST/OBC) – 160 cm Female 150 cm Female general & (SC/ ST/OBC) - 145 cm Chest – Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm. Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm. Blood pressure (High) :– 123– 127. Ladies should not be pregnant at the time of Medical Test. The physical standards are a rigorous training at the NPA, which includes weekly run for 10 k.m. in 60 minutes, route march for 25 k.m. UAC, Horse riding, rock climbing, assault course, PT obstacles, rope climbing etc. so dont worry and start concentrating on other aspects of the IPS other than height. YOU still have a chance. Friend, -- First of all, I would like to share the eligibility criteria for IPS : # Degree in any discipline from any recognised university. # Required age limit for General category is 21-30 years # Required age limit for OBC category is 18-33 years. # Required age limit for SC/ST category is 18-35 years. # Candidate must have 165 cm of height. However their is relaxation in height for SC and ST categories. -- So your height is shorter than the required height for IPS post. So you are presently not eligible. -- If you belongs to any reserved category, then their is fair hope for you. |

And according to you you meet all the requirements but your height is 163cms , i.e., 2cms sort of the required height. My friend , i just want to tell you that if you belong to SC/ST/OBC category then there is every chance for you to get eligibility for the same because there is a relaxation of 5cms in upper age for candidates from these categories but howsoever if you belong to general category , then it seems that it`s quite impossible for you to be eligible for the exam. This is the information i have to the best of my knowledge regarding you query. Hope the information will help you to the best of my knowledge . |

but if you are a general or OBC category student then i am really sorry to tell that its quite difficult situation for you .. you are 2cm short , actually the limit is 165cm but then a pure luck can only help you .. the probability of you getting through is less than 1%..! so don't feel depressed this is not the end of the world there are various exams |
