Educational qualification:
-Candidate should be complete any graduation from a recognised university.Final year appearing candidates can also be eligible.

Age criteria:-For general candidates 21 years to 30years,
3years age relaxation for OBC, 5Years age relaxation for SC/ST candidates.

IAS stand for Indian Administrative Service. It's is a very reputed post of government job.

Any one who completed graduation they can apply for IAS exam. so first of all you should complete your graduation.


To become an IAS officer you will have to give civil service exam which is conduct every year by UPSC.


for this exam you must have graduate degree in any stream from recognised university.


Age should be minimum 21 and maximum 30 years for general categories.


Relaxation for obc is 3 year and for sc/st is 5 year.


In IAS exam only four attempts for general,for obc 7 attempts and no limit for sc/st.


Fee for general candidate is Rs. 100 only. No fee for sc/st/pd.

For applying Civil Service Exam you require following Qualification.

Eligibility and Criteria:


A candidate must have completed their Graduation Study in any Discipline from Recognized Universities.

Finall years student who are waiting for their final result can also apply for it.

Age Limit:


General Age Limit is 21-30 years. but there is relaxation is available for reserved category

Eligibility For Becoming An IAS Officer


In order to become an IAS Officer..you need to clear the Civil Service Exams which is conducted every year by the UPSC..

A candidate can appear for the Civil Service Exams if :-

>> The candidate is within the age limit of 21-30 years..21-33 years for OBC and 21-35 years for SC/ST..

>> Candidate must have completed graduation in any stream from a recognized stream..

>> General candidates have 4 attempts..OBC have 7 and there is no limit for SC/ST and PD candidates..


There is no physical criterion for IAS..

You need to clear the

Prelims which consists of 2 objective papers..

Mains which will include 9 subjective papers including English and your graduation subjects..

Final Interview

The forms for the PRelims shall be available from 2nd February,2013 to 4th MArch,2013..

The PRelims will be conducted on 19th MAy,2013

The Mains will be conducted on 8th November,2013

To become an IAS(Indian Administrative Service) office one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC every year.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate.

The selection is through three phases:-

-CSAT - Civil Service Aptitude Test - Preliminary Exam comprises of Objective type questions

-Civil Service Main Exam comprises of subjective type questions

-Personal Interview

CSE stands for Civil services examination.

Eligibility Criteria :

1.you have to complete your Graduation degree course first.

2.you have completed your Graduation in any discipline.

3. your age should between 21 to 30 years

More about CSE :

This examination is conducted by UPSC, two times in a year.

Examination is conducted in two stages,
1. preliminary examination
2. main examination.


Lots of hard work and preparation is needed to cracked this examination.

Dear friend,

If you want to become an IAS officer the you need to crack Civil Services Examination which is conducted every year by UPSC.

To give Cvil Services exam you must fulfill some eligibility norms like:


You must have completed your graduation.

Or if you are in the last year of your graduation then also you can apply.

Graduation can be in any stream.

Minimum age required is 21 yrs & maximum is 30 yrs.
Age relaxation is given in case of SC/St - 5yrs, OBC- 3yrs, PH- 10 yrs.


There is restriction in number of attempts for general by 4 attempts & OBC by 7 attempts.
There is no restriction for SC/ST til they attain the age of 35 yrs.

You have 2 stages of exam :

Written exam
Interview.

Written exam is further held in 2 stages:

Preliminary exam:
Now also known as CSAT i.e, Civil Services Aptitude Test.
The exam is purely objective.

It has 2 papers:
Paper 1 is of general awareness
Paper 2 is of Aptitude & reasoning

Mains: It is descriptive writing test.

If you qualify both the examination you are called for an Interview.

IAS is commonly known as Indian Administrative Services.
To become an IAs officer you need to clear UPSC Civil Services Examination.

You can sit for the exam provided you follow the eligibility norms:

** You must have completed your graduation in any stream.

** Final year candidates may also apply.

There is age relaxation given for reserved categories.

Number of attempts:

To become IAS Officer you have to complete your Graduation degree course first and when you have completed your Graduation in any discipline then you are eligible to apply for CSE(Civil services examination). This examination is conducted by UPSC, two times in a year and for this examination your age should between 21 to 30 years. upper age relaxation is applicable for sc/st/obc candidates.

If you have fulfill the above mentioned criteria then only you are eligible for Civil services examination.

Examination is conducted in two stages, i.e preliminary examination and main examination.

But first you have to cracked the preliminary examination, this examination have two objective papers and if you cracked this then you are eligible for Mains, the examination is not easy, the selection rate is very less as compared to other Indian examination.

Lots of hard work and preparation is needed to cracked this examination.

You will get limited attempts in this examination as per your category, Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt.

The notification is going to be published soon in the month of February next year, eligible candidates may fill the application form online from the official website, for more details you can check official website of UPSC.
