In computer engineering there a lot of opportunities in gov field. Now adays there are such kind of jobs in banks as IT Officer, IT Manager, Network Admin. etc.
you can also try in railways, BSNL, BHEL etc.

Various Government Job for Computer Engineer.

There are many government job available for a computer engineer.

A computer engineer can join any one of the following government sector.

-> Indian Railway.

-> BSNL.

-> ISRO.

-> DRDO.

-> SAIL.

-> Bharat Petroleum corporation Limited.

-> Bhabha Atomic Research Center...etc.

You can also appear for the IAS & CDS exam which is conducted by UPSC.

The notification for the recruitment is the published in the employment

news. So i advise you to read the employment news regularly.

yes a computer science engineer can also join Indian railway under signal section..and there are lots of other opportunity for computer science branch similar to other electrical branches in all government jobs like

There is no form for applying ISRO you need to go to isro website and fill your form but before that you need to make a D.D of 100/- and then you need to apply to website..then you need to note down your application form no and take print of the

generated form and sent to the ISRO address.
DRDO(Defense research and development organisation)
ECIL(Electronic cooperation of india limited)
AAI(Airport authority of India)
SAIL(Steel authority of india)
RRB(Railway recruitment board)
UPSC(Union Public Service Commission )

There are not specific govt sectors which employ computer science graduates, either they are employed in electrical dept or in banks.
So, i think you should join IT majors like :
WIPRO
TCS
GOOGLE
They will be more interesting to you.

Engineers but is conducted in case of available vacancies.
You should refer Employment News weekly to get updated about the
vacancy and recruitment exam.

On a regular basis UPSC conducts Engineering Services Examination
every year to recruit engineering Graduates in four categories.
1. Civil Engineering
2. Electrical Engineering
3. Electronics and Communication Engineering
4. Mechanical Engineering.

Being a computer science engineer you can apply for the third category.
In this category there are two services in Indian Railway.
>Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers.
>Indian Railway Stores Service (Telecommunication/Electronics Engineering Posts)

As a computer engineer you have very few vacancies in the Government sector but as a graduate you can write various exams conducted like

CDS
TNPSC
High courts
BSNL
DRDO
CSAT
IAF
Indian Railways

The notifications are published in the weekly journal "Employment news" or in the daily newspaper "The Hindu".
But for many of the above specified jobs the eligibility is just being a graduate.

a) Army (selection through CDS)
b) Navy
c) AirForce (selection through thier entrance exam)

2) Research
There are many research org. in country wr you can try:
a) NIO(national institute of technology)
b) DRDO
c) ISRO
d) BARC
e) C-DAC (mumbai)

3) Govt Engineering colleges:
a) NIT's
b) IIT's
c) state government colleges
d) IISC (indian instute of science banglore)
(the teaching job in engg coleges are considered to b most lucrative and most relaxede jobs in enginnering. it will be better if you have a M-Tech/ME to get permanent jobs)
you can make yourself more eligible by answering NETexams.

5) ALL the govt affiliated sectors:
1) BSNL (telecom industry)
2) petroleum industry
3) In every state there is a science technology dept, you can take up the job there.

if you are a computer engineer and want goverment job than you can apply to DRDO , ISRO as well as some psu like NTPC , CDOT.you have also option to go in defence by qualifying SSB interview.
