Re: What is the qualification for IPS officer? IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.This exam is conduct through Civil Service Exam . Those candidate have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam. So if you have graduation then you are applicable for IPS Exam.There is no marks criteria . |

Eligibility Criteria: Educational Qualification: The applicant must complete the Graduation from any recognized University with any stream. No percentage required for this exam. Final year pursuing candidates are eligible for this exam. Nationality: The applicant must be origin of India. Age limit: The applicant age limit should be between 21 to 30 years. The upper age relaxation is applicable for the other categories. 3 years upper age relaxation for OBC Candidates. 5 years upper age relaxation for SC\ST Candidates. 10 years upper age relaxation for PWD Candidates. No of Attempts: 4 for General Candidates. 7 for OBC Candidates. No limit of Attempts for the Sc\ST candidates. Qualification for IPS, Civil Service Exam:- -The candidate must be an Indian National. -Should be either appeared for Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University. -Should be within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate. -Should have good Physical and Mental Fitness. Regarding minimum prescribed Physical requirement the candidate should have minimum:- HEIGHT:- General/OBC Male-165cm and Female-150cm while SC/ST Male-160cm and Female-145cm. IPS officers are selected to work at important positions in the following agencies: CBI R&AW IB NIA To become IPS officer one has to appear for Civil Service Examination which is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This is a annual exam which is conducted in May and then in August/September. There are actually two stages of the exam. First one is preliminary exam which is conducted in May/June. While second one is main exam that is conducted in August/September. To appear for the Main Examination, each candidate has to first pass the Preliminary Exam. Eligibility 1. Only candidates of Indian origin can apply. 2. Bachelor degree in any stream is required. 3. There is no minimum percentage requirement. 4. Age limit is 21 to 30 years for Civil Service Examination. 5. There is upto 3 years relaxation for OBC. 6. SC/ST are eligible for upto 5 years relaxation. Physical Requirements Height Male - 165 cm (General/OBC/SC) and 150 cm (ST) Female - 150 cm (General/OBC/SC) and 145 cm (ST) Chest Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm. Female Minimum of 79 cm Expansion 5 cm. Eye Sight 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. Candidate should not be suffering from color blindness or night blindness. |
