IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.This exam is conduct through Civil Service Exam .

Those candidate have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.

So if you have graduation then you are applicable for IPS Exam.There is no marks criteria .

But your age should be in between 21-30years for general candidate.
In IPS exam their is provide age relaxation for OBC candidate is 3years and for SC/ST candidate is 5 years.

The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.
Also you must be citizen of India.

IPS stands for the Indian Police Service. The role of IPS officer is to maintain law and order. IPS officers are selected to work at important positions in the following agencies:

CBI

R&AW

IB

NIA

To become IPS officer one has to appear for Civil Service Examination which is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This is a annual exam which is conducted in May and then in August/September.

There are actually two stages of the exam. First one is preliminary exam which is conducted in May/June. While second one is main exam that is conducted in August/September. To appear for the Main Examination, each candidate has to first pass the Preliminary Exam.


Eligibility

1. Only candidates of Indian origin can apply.

2. Bachelor degree in any stream is required.

3. There is no minimum percentage requirement.

4. Age limit is 21 to 30 years for Civil Service Examination.

5. There is upto 3 years relaxation for OBC.

6. SC/ST are eligible for upto 5 years relaxation.


Physical Requirements

Height

Male - 165 cm (General/OBC/SC) and 150 cm (ST)

Female - 150 cm (General/OBC/SC) and 145 cm (ST)


Chest

Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm.

Female Minimum of 79 cm Expansion 5 cm.


Eye Sight

6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye.

6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye.

Candidate should not be suffering from color blindness or night blindness.
