Re: Am I eligible for IPS exam if I have a height of 153 cms? Dear Friend , * The Acronym "IPS" stands for Indian Police Service. Its Exam is conducted every year by UPSC. The Eligibility Criteria for IPS examination are mentioned below : * You must have completed your graduation from any recognized college / university. * Your age must lie in between 21-30 years. There is also a relaxation in upper age of 3 years For OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates. * You must have a minimum height of 165 cms if belonging to general category. There is also a relaxation of 5cms in minimum height required if you are from SC/ST/OBC category. But my dear friend , very sorry to say that you are not eligible for this exam because your height is just 153 cms. This is the information i have to the best of my knowledge regarding your query. Hi, You are eligible to be an IPS officer ,not police but INDIAN POSTAL SERVICE which is a central service of government of India You are eligible to be an IAS officer with the height you mentioned. You have chances to become an IRS,IFS and Indian Railway central service. For your information , here are few physical fitness details of an IPS officer. Eye sight - 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. Near vision J 1 for good eye. J2 for worst eye. The correction is by lenses only. High standard for the Colour-blind test. No inherent night blindness. Vision should stereoscopic. Height: 165cm Chest girth fully expanded: 84cm (Expansion: 5cm) Eye Vision: High Grade Colour Vision. Binocular Vision. Refractive Error Permitted- Total Amount of Hypermetropia(including cylinder) shall not exceed plus 4.00D Total Amount of Myopia(including cylinder) shall not exceed minus 4.00D. However, if its a non-pathological case of myopia, it can be relaxed. Spectacles allowed but no mention of lasik. Therefore, lasik is not allowed. We can serve the nation in so many ways other than IPS. IAS is more powerful than IPS .So you can opt for other services. All The best Vega Sridhar |

The minimum physical standards are as follows: Height – Male 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST (not the SC/ OBC) – 160 cm Female 150 cm Pahari Female (general also) & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm Chest – Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm. Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm. |

INDIAN POLICE SERVICE  This CIVIL SERVICE EXAM is conducted by UPSC every years. sorry to say that you are not eligible for this post, because the minimum requirements of the height for a candidate(MALE) is 165cm (5 cm relaxation for SC\ST) and for female it is 150 cm. for appear in this exam you must have to complete your graduation in any stream from a recognized college. the age limit for this exam is 21-30,.there are 5 & 3 years of age relaxations for SC\ST & OBC candidates respectively. thanks!!! |

Also, you are not eligible for IRTS, DANI PS, CISF, RPF & other Police organisation. But, you can apply for administrative services, foreign services and other allied services. So you are eligible to apply for civil services examination but you can't apply for IPS. Thanks |

Academic qualification : -One should have a graduation degree from a recognized university. Age criteria : -One should be in the age group of 21-30 years -Relaxation is there in upper age limit for the candidates of SC/ST.
