rep:can i study genetic engineering in iit chennai? can i study genetic engineering in iit chennai for m.e because i am presently doing my b.e in ece department, wheather i can write gate exam?,what type of questions will be asked either from ece or from genetic engineering? pls explain me................ |

Re: Does IIT offer genetic engineering? IITs offer you a degree in non-medical field where as genetic engineering is s field of medical line. IITs do not offer this but is offered by the other good universities. Thank you |

Re: Does IIT offer genetic engineering? hello dear, the IITs don't offer the course of genetic engineering but yes if you take the degree of graduation in biotechnology and then you decide to go for the masters and doctorate in this course then you might get a chance.Cos no institute is offering a direct degree in genetics cos it is a field which includes more complicated fundamentals of biology.As biology has zology as its branch.You will find genetics as the branch of bio tehcnology. |

Re: Does IIT offer genetic engineering? Hi, The IITs do not offer Genetic engineering course. If u are really interested in genetics then u can go for Degree in genetics and then M.Sc course in genetics or u can also opt for M.Tech biotechnology after B.tech.. Eligibility : The basic eligibility for studying Genetics is that u should have studied Physics , chemistry, maths and biology at plus 2 level. There are many Universities but Delhi University is best. Thanks..... |

IIT's directly do not offer genetic engineering in the undergraduate level but if you are interested in genetic engineering ,you have to choose Biotechnology and in further studies you can specialise in genetic engineering.IIT's that offer Biotechnology are Bombay,Madras and Delhi |

However, if you wish to do any course related to Genetic Engineering, then you can choose other courses like: Bio Technology course which is available in: IIT Guwahati, Madras and Roorkee Bio Technology and Bio Chemical Engineering which is available in: IIT Kharagpur Complete list of courses available in different IITs is given below:  However, now admission to these IITs is based on JEE Advanced Exam which was earlier IIT-JEE Exam. Re: Does IIT offer genetic engineering? IITs do not offer B.Tech. courses in genetic engineering. Therefore you can study biotechnology / biochemical engineering programmes offered by IITs. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras (http://jee.iitm.ac.in) conducts four-year B.Tech. biotechnology and five-year dual degree M.Tech. programmes in biotechnology. |

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) do not offer a B.Tech. course in Genetic Engineering. Instead, Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering are offered. |
