IPS(Indian Police Service) exams are conducted by UPSC every year. Minimum Qualification Candidate should be Graduate from recognized university. (no percentage is required just passing marks are enough) Number of Attempt General - 4 attempt OBC - 7 Attempt SC/ST - No limit on number of attempt Age Limit General - 21 to 30 yrs OBC - 21 to 33 yrs SC/ST - 21 to 35 yrs Defence Personnal - 21 to 33 yrs Ex serviceman - 21 to 35 yrs Physical Standard:Candidate should be physically fit Fee:50/- How to apply candiadte are required to apply online by using website http://www.upsconline.nic.in IAS/IPS/IFS (Civil Service Exam) has three stages to be cleared by candidate. After completion of 12th standard a candidate should not be eligible for IPS(Indian Police Service) exam because the educational qualification is Graduation, So first complete your graduation then appear this exam. Full details about this exam is given below. Eligibility criteria:- Applicant should be complete graduation or any equivalent stream from a recognised university. Final year graduation studying candidates are also eligible. There is no restrictions about percentage in your graduation. Candidate must be an Indian origin. Age criteria:- The age limits for General category are 21 years to 30 years, The age limits for OBC category are 21 years to 33 years, The age limits for SC/ST Category are 21 years to 35 years. Selection process:- Civil Services Preliminary examination, Civil Services Mains examination, Personal Interview. Number of attempts:- 4 times chance for General category candidates, 7 times chance for OBC category candidates, No limit for SC/ST category candidates. IPS - Indian Police Service and to become an IPS officer, one has to crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC every year after Graduation Degree. The eligible candidate must be an Indian national having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate with good Physical Fitness. The aspiring candidate for IPS, should have minimum prescribed Physical requirement such as:- -HEIGHT - General/OBC Male-165cm and Female-150cm while SC/ST male-160cm and Female-145cm. -CHEST - Male-84cm while Female-79cm expandable to 5cm in both the cases. You need to complete the Graduation from any recognized university. IPS stands for Indian Police Service. This exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission once in a year. Eligibility Criteria: Educational Qualification: The applicant should be pass the Bachelor degree from recognized university. The candidate not required the percentage to eligible this exam. Final year pursuing candidates are eligible for this exam. Age limit: The candidate minimum age limit is 21 years. The candidate maximum age limit is 30 years. Relaxation: 3 years upper age relaxation for OBC Candidates. 5 year upper age relaxation for SC/ST Candidates. 10 years upper age relaxation for PWD candidates. Gender: Both male and female candidates are eligible to become IPS Officer. Nationality: The candidate should be Citizen of India. You cannot join in as a IPS officer with only passing +2 as you are not satisfying the needed education qualification for joining in as a IPS Officer. For becoming a IPS officer you need to write the IPS Exam which is conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) and is held every year and this exam is known as one of the Indian Civil Service Exam The reason why you are not eligible for the IPS Exam is that you are not satisfying the education qualification as you need to have completed a Graduation from a recognized university with a fair percentage from a recognized university. BUt as you have only completed +2 you are not eligible at this stage,so it is better that you continue your studies and then apply for the IPS exam With the education qualificaiton you also need to have a Citizenship in India and you must have 21-30 years of age For more info check at http://www.upsc.gov.in |

Selection is done through a 2 stage written exam conducted by UPSC. Those who clear the written exam should get through physical fitness test and interview to join the position. |

Re: how to become an IPS after passing 12th with Arts? You will have to complete graduation. Unless you do so, it is not possible to appear for the IPS entrance exam. Since you are arts student, bachelor of arts is one good option to consider for you. Only apply for the IPS entrance exam which is known as Civil Services Examination once you have completed graduation. You should complete graduation from a recognized college. It is possible to do graduation through regular mode or the distance education mode to apply for the Civil Services Examination. IPS Stands for the Indian Police Service. Although selected by the central government on the recommendation of Union Public Service Commission, IPS officers work closely with the state governments. The IPS officers help in controlling law and order. They are promoted by central government by selecting them for CBI, IB and other intelligence agencies of the central government. Eligibility 1. Nationality: Indian citizen. 2. Education: Bachelor degree in any discipline. 3. Percentage: No criteria. 4. Age Limit: Minimum of 21 years age required and maximum age limit is 30 years. 5. OBC Relaxation: OBC get 3 years relaxation. 6. SC/ST Relaxation: 5 years. Physical Requirements for Male Chest: Minimum 84 cm required with expansion of 5 cm. Height: 165 cm (General) and 160 cm (ST). Physical Requirements for Female Chest: At least 79 cm with 5 cm expansion. Height: 150 cm is minimum requirement. 145 cm for Schedule Tribe. |
