Re: Is DCP and DC post the same? hi, DCP and DC are two dofferent post. you can join DCP post by giving IPS exam for DC; you should apply IAS exam. both are civil sevice examination. for more; www.upsc.gov.in |

Re: Is DCP and DC post the same? hi if you confused about in this two word so,let me tell you dcp- Deputy Commissioner of Police Indian State Police Gazetted Officer Rank Insignia Insignia Rank Deputy Commissioner of Police or Senior Superintendent of Police Deputy Commissioner of Police or Superintendent of Police Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police or Additional Superintendent of Police Assistant Commissioner of Police or Deputy Superintendent of Police Abbreviation DCP or SSP DCP or SP ADL.DCP or ASP ACP or DSP Note: Gazetted officers belonging to Indian State Police Service(s) lie between ranks ACP/DSP and DCP/SSP. To gain promotion to ADL.CP/DIG rank, officers undergo training and hence are awarded IPS. DC means Deputy Commissioner or District Collector. |

RANK OF GAZETTED OFFICERS 1.IPS 2.DGP 3.IG 4.DIG 5.SSP 6.SP 7.DCP 8.DSP RANK OF NON GAZETTED OFFICER 1.Inspector 2.Sub Inspector(SI) 3.Assistant Sub Inspector(ASI) 4.Police Head Constable 5.Senior Head Constable 6.Constable these are the ranks of gazetted and non gezzeted officers . thank you |

Re: Is DCP and DC post the same? The meaning of the abbreviation D.C.P. and D.C. may be different in different state but these two are not at all same. DCP generally means Deputy Commissioner of Police DC means Deputy Commissioner or District Collector. The former post is filled by an I.P.S. officer and the later is filled by an I.A.S. officer. The joining to both the services are done through Civil Services Examination but once you join IAS/IPS cadre, you can't change it at a later stage without reappearing the exam. |
