You could actually have the combination of Physics and mathematics in yoir plus 2 std as it becomes quite mandatory in all
officer posts. The best way to be a part of the indian air force is to apply and seriously prepare for nda if you are a plus 2 candidate.
If not there are maby vacancies after your graduation level with subject physics and maths as compulsory. You can always log on to www.careerairforce.nic.in for application and details for your further query.

Qualificaiton : -

Graduation from a Recognised university

See, with Graduation as qualification , you can apply for the AFCAT EXAM

Generally , the AFCAT (Airforce common admission test ) includes 3 braches

1) Technical branch
2) Flying branch
3) Ground duty branch


-)) For Technical branch ,

Your age should be between 18-28 years
You should have completed b.TECH


-)) For Flying branch ,

Your age should be between 19-23 years


-)) For GROUND DUTY Branch ,

Your age should be between 20-23 years

The Ground duty branch includes ,

~ Administration
~ Logistics
~ Meterelogical

You can apply for the officers post according to your qualification. The branches for this post are:
  1. Administrative & Logistics Branch
  2. Educational branch
  3. Accounts branch
  4. Meterological branch

Educational qualification for different branches are different as:

Administrative & Logistics Branch
  1. Graduate 1st Class - Age: 20-23 years
  2. OR Post-Graduate/MBA/PGDBA I OR II Class - Age: 20-25 years
  3. OR LLB three-year (or 5 years) course I or II Class - Age: 20-26 years

Educational branch
  1. Post-Graduate in English/Psychology/Defence Studies/Maths/ Physics/Statistics/Computer Science - I or II Class.
  2. OR BE - I or II Class.
  3. OR MBA with a combination of minimum of two subjects of Physics, Maths, Statistics, English, Psychology, Defence.
  4. Age: 11 to 25 years.

Accounts branch
  1. B.Com. / B.Com. (Hons) in I Division OR I / II Division.
  2. OR M.Com. with AICWA / Chartered / Registered or Incorporated Accountant.
  3. Age: 20 to 27 years.

Meteorological branch
  1. M.Sc. Degree inany of the following subjects:
    • Physics
    • Meteorology
    • Geophysics with Meteorology and Oceanography
    • MA/MSc in Maths
    • M Tech in Atmosphere Sciences from IIT Delhi in I/II Class with Physics and Maths as subjects at BSc level
  2. Age: 20 to 25 years.

To become an Air Force Officer there are generally two ways depending upon one's academic and age qualification, one is through NDA and other through CDS.

NDA - National Defence Academy, the entrance exam for which is conducted by UPSC twice every year for an entry in to Indian Army, Navy and Air Force wing.

Qualification required to became an IAF officer through NDA:-

-The candidate must be an unmarried Indian male.
-Should have either appeared for the final 12th exam or pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subject of studies from a recognised Board.
-Should be within the age of 16.5 to 19 years.
-Should have possessed good Physical and Mental Fitness.

CDS - Combined Defence Service, the entrance exam for which is conducted by UPSC twice evry year to join Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officer's Training Academy.

Qualification for IAF officer through CDS:-

-The candidate must be an unmarried Indian male.
-Should have either appeared for the the final Graduation Degree exam or pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subject of studies from a recognised University.
-Should be within the age of 19 to 23 years.
-Should have possessed good Physical and Mental Fitness.
