Re: How many attempts are allowed for GATE exam? You don't need to worry about the number of attempts for GATE Exam., The reason being there is no limit on number of attempts for GATE Exam. One can take this exam as many times as they wanted subject to fulfilling of required academic qualification. GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. This exam is being conducted by IITs in India to give admission for M.Tech course in various colleges in India. One should have completed Graduation in Engineering in order to be eligible to apply for this Exam. Candidates who are pursuing final year of Engineering course also can apply for this Exam. There is no upper age limit to apply for this Exam. So, this many benefits are being provided by GATE Exam to the candidates. As you have applied for GATE Exam, have good preparation for this Exam and crack it. Better to get admission for this course in IITs so that you will be having fruitful career. Practice previous year question papers and model question papers so that you will be able manage time well in the actual exam. Better to join in a coaching institute. They will make your preparation too easy -by providing good guidance -by providing FAQs -by conducting mock tests etc. Wish you all the best. |

Means you first register with GATE website. Regarding eligibility: Candidates with following qualifications are eligible for GATE: · Bachelor’s degree in engineering/architecture/technology. · Master’s degree in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent · Qualifications equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by IE(I), AME by ICE(I)) Availability of Application forms for GATE 2011 GATE forms are available by cash payment from Designated Branches of the specified banks corresponding to the zone a candidate lives in. Forms can also be obtained directly from the Zonal GATE offices of IITs and IISB or by sending an application along with a demand draft to the corresponding zonal office requesting for the application form. Candidates also have the option to apply online through the GATE website. The cost of the offline form is Rs. 1000 and for the online application it is Rs. 800 for General and OBC students. For SC/ST/OBC Students the cost of the form/online application is half of that of General and OBC students |

Also the basic eligibility criteria for it is that you should have a degree of 4 years. Its valid for 2 years from the date you will appear for the exam. Its better if you are able to score good in GATE within 2 attempts. |

In the prospectus eligiblity criteria is given but there is no any limitation in number of attempts. If a candidate fails to clear the GATE exam in the first attempt or any attempt, he can always try next year. Presently, there is no restriction on the the number of times a student can give the GATE exam. Also, there is no age limit for appearing GATE. So you can try for GATE any time you want, provided you fulfill the other educational eligibility criteria as per their norms. Also, if you want, after doing engineering, you can drop a year and prepare hard for the GATE exams. After that you can apply for the GATE exams. Most students these days do the same, that is they drop a year and study for the exam. In this way they get the time to prepare as their no burden of studying anything else. |
