Dear,

In order to apply for the IAS exam , the minimum educational qualification required is to be a graduate in any filed.

You can apply for it in the final year , but you will be allowed to write the mains only after completing the graduation.

Age limitation is between 21-30 years for the general , 21-33 years for the OBC , 21-35 years for the Sc/St.

YOU can not apply for IAS while studying in 6th semester.Because You can apply only after your final year of graduation.

Eligibility Criteria :-

The candidate must be of Indian in nationality.

You need to complete your graduation course to appear in the exam.Final year Students can Also join for the Exam.

Your age must be in between 21 to 30 years Of age.

Age limit for IAS exam is between 21-30 year.

I thought at this time you are not eligible for IAS exam.first pass your graduation and then apply for IAS exam.

you get 7 chance if you are OBC student and there is no limit for SC/ST student.


so i will advise you to apply for IAS exam after completion of graduation.

yes you can apply but make sure you keep in mind the following criteria

No,present you are in 6th semester.You will have another 2 semesters.

After completion of your B tech then you will be applicable.
And also you can apply last semester also.


Eligibility criteria for IAS exam:You have to pass the graduation from any recognized university.
Age limit:20-30 years.

For SC/ST candidates age relaxation is 5 years.

For OBC candidates age relaxation is 3 years.

And no.of limits for to attempt the exam is 7 times.
For ST/SC candidates no limit.

maximum number of attempt:
4 times for general

or most important for IAS entrance exam is that you have passed your graduation .

so present time your not eligible for this exam. than you to apply for IAS exam after completion of graduation.

Yes offcourse you can go for IAS exam.
Minimum education criteria = Graduate
so you are eligible for the Exam and BSc(honors) is not compulsory..

He/She should be 21years to 30 yrs of age at the time of appearing

No i donot think so... that there is any change in age limit for civil service exam....

Age limit for civil service exam is:

General category:
candidate must have attained 21 years and not be over 30 years on August 1 of the year of examination.

SC/ST:
up to a maximum of 5 years.

OBC:
up to a maximum of 3 years.

A general candidate can attempt Four times only.Where as Seven attempts of OBCs. And no limit for SCs/STs.

the minimum eligibility criteria to appear in the IAS exam is graduation in any stream with age less than equal to 30 year. So, i am very sorry to say that you can not appear in the exam while appearing in the 6th semester exam. after appearing in your 8th semester exam, you can appear in this exam as a appearing candidate.

For applying in IAS examination you must be graduation. TEligibility Criteria for IAS :

the basic procedure to become an IAS officer is

First you have to have a graduation from any discipline..

but from an recognized Indian University.

next you have to have the minimum age of 21..

sorry to say The answer to your question is No You can't write IAS i.e CSAT(civil Service aptitude Test) being in 6th Semester.
You need to go for 2 more semester(If Engineering Degree you are persuing ) to write the Exam. You can write this Exam in 8th Semester Of Your Graduation.

definately, you can do IAS after graduation.

as minimum qualification graduation is require to attain in the IAS exam.

and minimum 60% marks in graduation is require to attain in the IAS exam.

age limit for IAS exam is 21-29 years.

so before completion of your graduation, you can't be attain the IAS exam.

You Have Not Clear In Your Question That, Is Your Course Are 3 Year Duration Or 4 Year Duration.

But, If Your Course Is 3 Year Duration, And You Are In The 6 Semester, Then Yes, You Are Eligible To Apply For IAS Examination.

And If Your Course Are 4 Year Duration, Then Sorry, You Cant Apply For IAS Examination In Your 6 Semester, You Are Only Apply For IAS Exams, When You Are In Your 8th Semester.

you have not clarified your course,
whether it is a six semester B.Sc. kind of degree or 8 semester course.

If it is the former Then yes you can apply as candidates in final year are eligible to apply
in addition to those who have already completed their degree.

And if you are in B.tech kind of course you will have to wait till you are in final year of
your degree... i.e 7th or 8th semester then you can apply for CDSE etc.
for getting into IAF.

In addition there are many additional criteria like physical criteria which you will have to
fulfill,( strict,without relaxation), then there is age criteria... also only Unmarried candidates are welcome
so you have to be unmarried to eligible to apply.

you are in 6 sem, you have not mention whether you are in final year ??

for ias you need to be graduate..
if you are completing this year then yes you are eligible
but if you are not infinal year then sorry you are not eligible..

As IAS i.e Indian Administrative Service is An Exam Conducted by upsc under CSAT Exam.

Criteria :-
For this you need to have graduation at the Time of your Joining.

As you said you are In 6th Semester, And i think you would be in Engineering Field Or any Other field which is having More than 6 Semester,& for that reason you are asking this Query.
