Paper-II It Consist Of 50 Short Questions Based On The Subject Selected By The Candidate. All Questions Are Compulsory And Carry 2 Marks. Paper-III This Section Consists Of Only Descriptive Questions From The Subject Selected By The Candidate And You Will Be Required To Attempt Questions in The Space Provided in the Test Booklet. good luck |

From CSIR-UGC NET June 2011 onwards, the exam consist of only one paper which has three part, Part-A, Part-B, Part-C Part – A is common to all while Part – B and Part-C are subject specific There are following areas : 1. Chemical Sciences 2. Earth Sciences 3. Life Sciences 4. Mathematical Sciences 5. Physical Sciences Part A This part shall be a test containing a maximum of 20 questions of General Science and Research Aptitude test. The candidates shall be required to answer any 15 questions of two marks each. The total marks allocated to this section shall be 30 out of 200 Part B It contain subject-related questions. The total marks allocated to this section shall be 70 out of 200. maximum number of questions to be attempted shall be in the range of 25-35. Part C it contain questions that may test the candidate's knowledge of scientific concepts or application of the scientific concepts. The questions shall be of analytical nature the scientific knowledge to arrive at the solution to the given scientific problem. The total marks allocated to this section shall be 100 out of 200. |

The question paper shall be divided into three parts, (A,B & C) as per syllabus & Scheme of Exam. # Part ‘A’ shall be common to all subjects. This part shall contain questions pertaining to General Science, Quantitative Reasoning & Analysis and Research Aptitude. # Part ‘B’ shall contain subject- related conventional Multiple Choice questions (MCQs), generally covering the topics given in the syllabus. # Part ‘C’ shall contain higher value questions that may test the candidate’s knowledge of scientific concepts and/or application of the scientific concepts. The questions shall be of analytical nature where a candidate is expected to apply the scientific knowledge to arrive at the solution to the given scientific problem. # A negative marking for wrong answers, wherever required, shall be applicable as per scheme of Exam. |

Re: Exam pattern for NET exam? hello the pattern is : The chance factor will be increased in the new pattern because of mcq pattern of the question. But also compitition will be increased.. due to absence of 1st paper. I think 2nd ppaper is more tough because you have to answer those questions in your won language . You have to analysis a ansnwer in a limited time also in a limited space. but when you will get the four options for each questions through out the NET paper ....I think it is going to be a easyer one.....what do you think???? Paper I -1¼ Hours Paper II -1¼ Hours Paper III - 2½ Hours thank you............. |

The breakup of the papers is as follows: Session Paper Marks Duration First I 100 1¼ Hours First II 100 1¼ Hours Second III 200 2½ Hours Paper-I This paper is of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It is designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. UGC has decided to provide choice to the candidates from the December 2009 UGC NET onwards. Sixty (60) multiple choice questions of two marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any fifty (50). In the event of the candidate attempting more than fifty questions, the first fifty questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated Paper-II It shall consist of fifty (50) short questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. All questions are compulsory and carry 2 marks. Paper-III This part consists of only descriptive questions from the subject selected by the candidate.
