Hi dear,

Hey there's nothing to do with the marks scored in 12th.To be eligible for CAT then you need to secure at least 50% in your graduation level. If your from reserved Category then you just need 45% in your graduation level.

So,prepare well for your CAT exam.If you get good marks in CAT then you need to go through the interview conducted in IIM's where they can ask about your poor performance in 12th.But if you got a good answer for it then there is not much trouble.

Thanks

yes,

unfortunately that will be a problem afterwards or your form may get rejected as you dont fit in the eligibility criteria of IIM's but it can be taken into consideration later on after a long debate but i will suggest you that if you are confident enough then you should give CAT exam..
good luck...&
all the very best even if IIM's don't take you, still then you will gain a lot of confidence... but i hope they will ....

Re: IIM admission without 60% PCM in 12th standard?

It will not be a major problem for you if you don't have 60% in 12th.
The eligibility for admission in IIMs is graduation from any branch with minimum 50% marks from a recognised university.
So just try to crack the cut-offs of CAT.

The minimum eligibility criteria for appearing in the CAT exam is to score 50% or above in your graduation..that's it..so you are surely eligible for appearing in the CAT (Common Admission Test)

But..this is going to be a hindrance while admissions into the IIMs as they also consider the 12th percentage and you have to score exceedingly well in the CAT exam to get overshadow your 12th performance..

all the best..

Re: IIM admission without 60% PCM in 12th standard?

Hi,
Your 12th marks do have an effect on the selection in IIM bcz,
they want a consistent performance throughout your career but this is one side.
If you consider IIMA had the following cutoff criteria previous year
CAT SCORE - 12 marks
10 th - 2 marks (if above 80 %)
12 th - 2 marks ( if above 80 %)
engg - 4 marks
work ex - 4 marks ( for < 2 year - 2 marks)
So in total if you dont perform in 12th you lose 2 marks
but you can get remaing 22 marks
and the cutoff was 19 marks for IIIMA and 17 for IIMB.
So you always have a chance

Re: IIM admission without 60% PCM in 12th standard?

It will not be a big problem if ur Bachelors record is good...but even if ur academic performance is poor after 12th, then u r sure to get kicked out even if u score 100%...They need the greatest brain from the country who are determent & hardworking and not the genius one who studies at last moment and scores 100, thats the reason they see ur 10th, 12th and graduation record and THIS IS THE REASON WHY 12TH REPORT CARD IS CONSIDERED VERY IMPORTANT....if u have some other talent like any sport or general knowledge or any currcular activity which u feel u r better then the rest and is genuine, it will be + point for u.....all the best for CAT...its not easy getting 99 there

Re: IIM admission without 60% PCM in 12th standard?

No, it will not create any significant problem if you did not get at least 60% in 12th board.
But you must have at least 60% in your graduation. The better your record is, the higher the chances of your admission to IIM.
You must not have any backlog. It will create a bad impression on interviewers.

Re: IIM admission without 60% PCM in 12th standard?

Respected All,

I've started hating my self, I got just 64% in 12th (82% in 10th) and 74% in BE ( 3.5 GPA).I am working in MNC (10 months exp). I am not able to prepare for CAT due to my low marks in 12th. I envisaged that IIM wud be just a dream for me. There is a family reason for my low percentage in 12th but I know no one will listen to me.
Please help me out. Please give me some source where i can find guys who got addmission in past two years, with low percentage in 12th.

your past academics are good
but the IIM criteria change every year.
but you have good chance if you score above 98%tile than you can get a call from few IIMS
but if you want to get in to IIM-A or B than get above 99%tile.

Re: IIM admission without 60% PCM in 12th standard?

In present scenario Acads have gained mountainous weight-age in IIM admissions..
Even if you getting very high CAT percentile you will probably not get a call since you wont have good wiegted score .. and if you get a call you will face difficulty justyfying 60%..and others with high percentage will get selected.. my suggestio would be to lower your aspirations and try for other colleges rather than hurting youself after CAT/IIMs

hi,
some say 60% is required as minimum for getting a call from iim after you fulfill the 99 percentile condition.though i have a pretty good percentage during my 10th-84% and in 12th it was 68%..in graduation it was 81%..i have the information that even if one scores 99 percentile in cat,but you need to have atleast 70% to get a call from iima,is that so??since i do not fulfill the eligibility criteria in my 12th..i am talking only about iima..kindly reply..
