Re: Can I apply for Indian Forest Service Exam after doing B.Tech ECE? i have done ba in economics, had only statistics as one of subject in 2nd semester, now doin mba in HR, m i elligible for it! while fillin the online application it asks for two optional subjects, one i can put as statistics but other options arent my sujects!! can i still fill it!!?? which one and how!!?? wont it crate any problem!! pls advise |

Since you're in the final semester you can apply but you will need to check out the educational qualifications on UPSC website to know which streams are permitted. Also you can apply for the IAS prelims in 2012. If you're interested in the IAS exam I can refer a good blog for all IAS books as well IAS exam tips from which I've personally benefited. Yes, you are absolutely eligible for IFS.... eligibility criteria for IFS: Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Science with at least one of the following Subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Geology, Statistics, Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry or A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any stream) / Forestry/ Agriculture or an MBBS. your age limit should be between 21 years and 30 years. The exam will held in the 2nd week of July. The exam pattern will be like: General English which consists of essay writing, precise/summary writing and questions to assess your comprehension and verbal ability in English. General Knowledge which covers questions relating to the Indian political system, the Constitution of India, history of India, geography (India and world), general science and current events (national and international). the questions will be of higher secondary level and the optional subject will be of Honors degree level. to prepare for IFS, you can follow these books. |

Not only IFS for any Civil service the basic eligibility criteria is mentioned below. the eligibility criteria for civil services are ->you should have a degree of any stream and it should be from a recognized Indian University. ->Your age should be minimum of 21 and it should not cross 30 as its max for a general category.. Relaxation For Reserved Class.
