Hi, i am a b.tech student final semester, of electronics and instrumentation branch. can i apply for indian forest service exam 2011?

the eligibility conditions of the ifs exam are
1.the candidate should be an citizen of India
2.the candidate should be minimum of 21 years of age and maximum of 30 years of age with relaxation of 5 years for the sc/st students and children of ex-army men
3.the candidate should be an graduate in at least one of the subjects namely animal husbandry and veterinary science, botany,chemistry,geology,mathematics,physics,stati stics or zoology or graduate in agriculture ,forestry or engineering from any of the recognized college or university in India
if you satisfy all these condition you can write the exam,i am also attaching the information brochure of the exam to give you an detailed information

IFS (Indian Foreign Service OR Indian Forest Service )

Minimum Educational Qualifications :

candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely

• Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
• Botany
• Chemistry

• Physics
• Statistics
• Zoology

or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry

IFS (Indian Forest Service) examination are conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission).

Eligibility criteria for UPSC IFS exam are as follows: -

1. Pass graduation / Bachelor’s degree in any subject or in any engineering stream or equivqlent from a recognised institute / university.

2. Age - 21 Years to 30 Years for General candidates, 21 Years to 33 Years for OBC candidates and 21 Years to 35 Years for SC / ST candidates.

3. Nationality - Indian

Yes since you will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering you will be able to apply for IFS examination.

Age Limits

Number of attempts

Indian Forest Service (IFS) exam is conducted by UPSC in every year.

The exam pattern will be like:

General English which consists of essay writing, precise/summary writing and questions to assess your comprehension and verbal ability in English.

General Knowledge which covers questions relating to the Indian political system, the Constitution of India, history of India, geography (India and world), general science and current events (national and international).

the questions will be of higher secondary level and the optional subject will be of Honors degree level.

Hi Deepika,

Since you're in the final semester you can apply but you will need to check out the educational qualifications on UPSC website to know which streams are permitted.

Also you can apply for the IAS prelims in 2012. If you're interested in the IAS exam I can refer a good blog for all IAS books as well IAS exam tips from which I've personally benefited.
