To be associated with the IPS or the Indian Police Service, you must give the UPSC exam or the Civil Services exam.
To crack this exam you must have thoroughly studied NCERT books and solved the previous year papers.
Also you must be up to date with the latest happenings in the world especially Indian politics.

The acronym for IPS is Indian Police Services.

First of all, I would like to tell you that you cannot appear for IPS examination before completing your graduation.

Police officers are employed by the police departments of respective states of India.

The eligibility criteria required for the IPS examination are prescribed as below:-

* Final year contenders are also eligible.

* Age limit:- 21-30 yrs.

* Age relaxation:- 3 yrs for OBC and 5 yrs for SC/ST contenders.

* No. of attempts:- 4 for General, 7 for OBC and no limits for SC/ST contenders.

* Nationality:- Indian.

after 10th class. u can take any of the three streams in 11th. but arts stream will be helpful for you. master over the social studies of 11th and 12 th class. after 12th decide you favourite subject from history,geo., pol sci etc. and choose the language you ere comfortable with i.e. eng. or hindi. and start preparing these subjects alongwith your bachelor's degree course. honors in history, pol sci. , geography will be best course for you.and important- develop habit of going through newspaper and magazines.
best of luck Loki
