Re: What is the educational qualification, age limit of IPS, IAS officers? For both the I.A.S and I.P.S there is a common entrance examination as Civil Service Examination conducted by UPSC . The eligibility criteria are :- 1.Educational Qualification :- Candidates must be graduation passed or in the final year of graduation from a recognized university in any discipline . 2. Age :- Candidates age must be 21-30 years for general category students and relaxation of 3 and 5 years in upper limit for OBC and SC/ST candidates . 3.Attempts :-General -4 OBC---7 SC/ST - No Limit . The examination is conducted in three parts :- Preliminary . Mains . Interview . Only candidates who have passed in the first stage one are eligible to go for second stage and so on . |

So there is no issue in your case as you have passed your graduation in arts with 40% marks, you can appear for the Civil Services examinations. Other than academic qualification, what you need to meet is the age criteria. The age limit for candidates of general category is 21-30 years with relaxation age applicable to OBC and SC/ST candidates. The date of notification for Civil Services examination will be out on 16/03/2015. After that you can apply for this exam at the official website www.upsconline.nic.in. Number of Attempts: >>General Candidate: 4 >>OBC candidate: 7 >>SC/ST candidate: no limit. This entrance exam has three stages: First one is the preliminary stage which you need to clear for entering into second stage called Mains exam. Third stage is Personal Interview. Preparation of ranking list for different services is done on basis of marks obtained in Mains and interview. IPS stand for : Indian Police Service. IPS and IAS exam is conducted by UPSC under Civil Services exam in every year. For apply this exam candidate should be an Indian citizen. Educational qualification :- Candidate should be completed Graduation degree in any stream from a recognized University. Age limit:- Age should be between 21 years to 30 years for General category candidates. Age relaxation for OBC category candidates 3 years And SC/ST category candidates 5 years. Number of Attempts:- General category candidates - 4 time OBC category Candidates - 7 time SC/ST category candidates - No limit.
