Genetic Engineering involves altering or manipulating an organism's genome to create a new and useful result.

Procedure:-
1)The necessary genes need to be manipulated have to be 'isolated' from the main DNA helix

2)The genes are 'inserted' into a transfer medium like a plasmid.

3)The transfer medium (i.e. plasmid) is then inserted into the organism needed to be modified.

4)The element of transformation, whereby several different methods, including DNA guns, bacterial transformation or viral insertion can be used to apply the transfer medium to the new organism.

5)At the final stage separation occurs, where the Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) is now isolated from other organisms which have not been successfully modified.

For studying genetic engineering you must have physics chem maths and/or biology in

your 10+2 level.Universities offer Bsc/Btech/Msc/Mtech degrees in this course. Most of

the reputed universities like IITs take entrance test for admissions to their courses. After

that you can do PhD to gain further specialization.
