Re: Is there any age limit for IIT JEE exam?

Yes of course the is a age criteria for admission to any IIT.

Though there is no age bar on the lower limit to write the exam.

The upper limit as given by IIT is as follows:

General (GE) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) category candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 1987. Those born earlier are not eligible to appear in IIT-JEE 2012.
Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and those with Physical Disability (PD) must have been born on or after October 1, 1982. SC/ST/PD candidates born before October 1, 1982 are not eligible to appear in IIT-JEE 2012.

Re: Is there any age limit for IIT JEE exam?

Hello friend !

The age limit for appearing in IIT-JEE is 25 years.
For candidates belonging to SC, ST and PD categories, the relaxed age limit is 30 years.

Also, starting 2007, a candidate can take the JEE two times at the most. This has been done mainly to reduce stress on students and discourage the concept of "cram schools". Furthermore, from 2007 on, students who are selected for admission to an IIT cannot attempt the examination again in the future.

For futher information refer to the following link :

As per the new format, IIT JEE has two papers of three hours duration each. The two papers each contains Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry sections. The pattern of questions in JEE is deliberately variable so as to minimize the chance of students getting selected by cramming up the probable questions. Currently, the examination has objective type question paper for all the subjects and uses machine readable Optical mark recognition answer sheets.

If any Board awards only letter grades without providing an equivalent percentage of marks on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the Board specifying the equivalent marks, and submit it at the time of counselling / admission. In case such a certificate is not provided then the final decision rests with the Joint Implementation Committee of JEE-2011.

4. Important Points to Note

(i)Â Â Â Â One can attempt JEE only twice, in consecutive years. That means one should have attempted JEE for the first time in 2010 or will be appearing in 2011.
(ii) Â Â Â Those who have taken admission (irrespective of whether or not they continued in any of the programmes) or accepted the admission by paying the registration fee at any of the IITs, IT-BHU Varanasi or ISM Dhanbad, are NOT ELIGIBLE to write JEE-2011.
(iii)Â Â Â The year of passing the qualifying examination will be determined based on the examination he/she passed the earliest out of the qualifying examinations listed in Section III(2). If the candidate attempted any of the qualifying examinations listed in Section III(2) more than once, then the year of the first successful attempt will be used to determine the eligibility to write JEE-2011.
(iv)Â Â Â The offer of admission is subject to verification of original certificates/ documents at the time of admission. If any candidate is found ineligible at a later date even after admission to an Institute, his/her admission will be cancelled automatically.
(v)Â Â Â Â If a candidate is expecting the results of the QE in 2011, his/her admission will only be provisional until he/she submits the relevant documents. The admission stands cancelled if the documents are not submitted in original to the concerned institute before September 30, 2011.
(vi)Â Â Â If a candidate has passed any of the examinations, listed in Section III(2), before October 1, 2009, she/he is not eligible to appear in JEE-2011.
(vii) Â If a Board invariably declares the results of the QE late (only after September 30, every year), the candidate is advised to attempt JEE in 2012 or later.
(viii) Â The decision of the Joint Admission Board of JEE-2011 regarding the eligibility of any applicant shall be final.Â

Re: Is there any age limit for IIT JEE exam?

Here i am providing the age criteria as a part of eligibility criteria for IIT-JEE exam.

The maximum age limit with which one can appear for IIT-JEE is 25 years.

This is for the candidates who belong to General or OBC.

Where as for the candidates who belong to SC /ST, the maximum age limit in order to appear for IIT-JEE is 30 years.

One can appear for IIT-JEE exam for a maximum of 2 times that too in two consecutive years.

Keep it in mind and prepare well and crack it. All the best
