Default Re: Is there any age limit for IIT JEE exam?

hello,
first of all i want to tell you about basic eligibility of appearing in joint entrance exam(jee).
you have to pass 10+2 with minimum 60% if you belong to general category

all over eligibility criteria is :-
there is an age limit to appearing in jee exam is 25 years old(max.)For GE and OBC categories, only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 1, 1986 are eligible to appear in JEE-2011. SC, ST, and PD candidates who are born on or after October 1, 1981 are eligible to appear in JEE-2011.
The date of birth as recorded in the high school/first Board/Pre-University certificate will be accepted. If the certificate does not mention the date of birth, a candidate must submit, an authenticated document indicating the date of birth.

candidate must have passed the QE for the first time, on or after October 1, 2009 or will be appearing in 2011.
Those who are going to appear in the QE later than October 1, 2011 are not eligible to apply for JEE-2011.
The qualifying examinations (QEs) are listed below:
The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized central / state Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc. Â
Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board / University.
Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London / Cambridge / Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
Any Public School/Board/University examination in India or in any foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
H.S.C. vocational examination.
Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
3 year Diploma recognized by AICTE or a state Board of technical education.
In case the relevant qualifying examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination at an earlier level.

3. Minimum percentage of marks in QE

Candidates belonging to GE and OBC categories must secure at least 60% marks in aggregate in their QE. SC, ST and PD candidates must secure at least 55% marks in aggregate in their QE.
The percentage of marks awarded by the Board will be treated as final. If the Board does not award the percentage of marks, it will be calculated based on the marks obtained in all subjects listed in the mark sheet. If any Board awards only letter grades without providing an equivalent percentage of marks on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the Board specifying the equivalent marks, and submit it at the time of counselling / admission. In case such a certificate is not provided then the final decision rests with the Joint Implementation Committee of JEE-2011.

4. Important Points to Note

(i)Â Â Â Â One can attempt JEE only twice, in consecutive years. That means one should have attempted JEE for the first time in 2010 or will be appearing in 2011.
(ii) Â Â Â Those who have taken admission (irrespective of whether or not they continued in any of the programmes) or accepted the admission by paying the registration fee at any of the IITs, IT-BHU Varanasi or ISM Dhanbad, are NOT ELIGIBLE to write JEE-2011.
(iii)Â Â Â The year of passing the qualifying examination will be determined based on the examination he/she passed the earliest out of the qualifying examinations listed in Section III(2). If the candidate attempted any of the qualifying examinations listed in Section III(2) more than once, then the year of the first successful attempt will be used to determine the eligibility to write JEE-2011.
(iv)Â Â Â The offer of admission is subject to verification of original certificates/ documents at the time of admission. If any candidate is found ineligible at a later date even after admission to an Institute, his/her admission will be cancelled automatically.
(v)Â Â Â Â If a candidate is expecting the results of the QE in 2011, his/her admission will only be provisional until he/she submits the relevant documents. The admission stands cancelled if the documents are not submitted in original to the concerned institute before September 30, 2011.
(vi)Â Â Â If a candidate has passed any of the examinations, listed in Section III(2), before October 1, 2009, she/he is not eligible to appear in JEE-2011.
(vii) Â If a Board invariably declares the results of the QE late (only after September 30, every year), the candidate is advised to attempt JEE in 2012 or later.
(viii) Â The decision of the Joint Admission Board of JEE-2011 regarding the eligibility of any applicant shall be final.Â

all above information is for iit jee 2011 appearing candidates

thank you hope yhis will help you to hit your goal .best of luck

Age Criteria for appearing in IIT JEE:

The age limit for appearing in IIT-JEE is 25 years. For candidates belonging to SC, ST and PD categories, the relaxed age limit is 30 years. Also, starting 2007, a candidate can take the JEE two times at the most. This has been done mainly to reduce stress on students. From 2007 onwards, students who are selected for admission to an IIT cannot attempt the examination again in the future.

Eligibility Criteria for appearing in IIT JEE:

The candidates belonging to the general category must secure a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination of the XIIth standard organized by various educational boards of India. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Physically Disabled (PD) categories must secure a minimum of 55% in aggregate in the Qualifying Examination.
Current Examination Format :

As per the new format, IIT JEE has two papers of three hours duration each. The two papers each contains Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry sections. The syllabus of the examination is based on topics covered by the CBSE Board Examination (AISSCE) and the ISC Board Examination. The pattern of questions in JEE is deliberately variable so as to minimize the chance of students getting selected by cramming up the probable questions. Currently, the examination has objective type question paper for all the subjects and uses machine readable Optical mark recognition answer sheets.

Red face Re: Is there any age limit for IIT JEE exam?

Yes there is age limit for IIT JEE exam. The first thing that matters is you can attempt the IIT exam only twice. That may be in your inter 1st year or inter 2nd year or even completing your inter 2nd year also. Your age limit should be in the range of 17 to 20.If you have't attempted it till 19 years then also u can write the exam.

Yes, there is an age limit for IITJEE examination which is as follows:-

Detailed Eligibility Criteria of IITJEE:-

1.Academic Eligiblity

A candidate for the JEE must have passed the final examination of the 10+2 system (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics

2.Age limit:-

The Age Limit is between 17 and 23 years as on September 30 of the year of examination.

The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years in the case of SC/ST and physically handicapped candidates.

3. Scheme of the Examination:-

The 3-hour Screening Test consists of objective-type questions to be answered on a machine-gradable answer sheet using HB pencils only. The subjects Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are given equal weightage.

In the Main Examinations, there are conventional questions in separate papers for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, each of 100 marks and 2 hours duration.

4.Physical Fitness :-

All qualified candidates will have to submit a Physical Fitness certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner in a prescribed format that will be made available to them at an appropriate time. They will be admitted only if they are physically fit for pursuing a course of study at the participating Institutes.
