HI dear, Eligibility Criteria for Merchant Navy To appear in the merchant navy exam you must need pass 10+2 exam at least 60% marks with PCM. A diploma holder candidates are also eligible for merchant navy exam. You must need also a good physical health. After selection in the exam you must need a training which is provided by the merchant navy and after then you can join merchant navy in any one of the department : ->Deck ->Catering ->Engine. So according to eligibility criteria you can not apply for merchant navy after 10th. So i advise you to do 10+2 course and then apply for the merchant navy. Thanks |

So do your 12th class and apply for merchant navy.. There will be 2 year course for Diploma Holders and successful completion you will be join merchant in either of departments * Deck * Engineering * Catering |

Hi dear, To become a merchant navy officer, one needs to be atleast 10+2 or a diploma holder...but you must have scored more than 60% in PCM in 12th board............... That means you will be eligible only when you do your 12th class but not now... So do your 12th class and apply for merchant navy.. There will be 2 year course for Diploma Holders and successful completion you will be join merchant in either of departments Deck Engine Catering Thanks |

Re: Can I apply for Merchant Navy after 10th standard with 64.85% marks? You are eligible to join Merchant Navy as GPR (General Purpose Rating) on the basis of 10th standard. Minimum educational qualification required to be eligible for GPR is 10th passout with minimum 45% marks in EMS. Acceptable age is 17 1/2 to 21 years on the date of commecement of training. You can directly contact the concerned marine institutes to take admission. |

Educational qualification: The minimum eligibility for courses in Nautical science and Marine engineering is 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics. He should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no colour blindness. Candidates wishing to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy need to complete a Bachelors degree in Nautical Science or Marine engineering, before they can gain admission to the field. So, first you need to complete your 12th with good percentage. |
