To become a merchant navy officer, one needs to be atleast 10+2 or a diploma holder...but you must have scored more than 60% in PCM in 12th board...............

That means you will be eligible only when you do your 12th class but not now...
So do your 12th class and apply for merchant navy..
There will be 2 year course for Diploma Holders and successful completion you will be join merchant in either of departments

you are not eligible now first you have to do your 10+2 and score above 60% in pcm.

So do your 12th class and apply for merchant navy..

Eligibility Criteria for Merchant Navy

To appear in the merchant navy exam you must need pass 10+2 exam

at least 60% marks with PCM. A diploma holder candidates are also

eligible for merchant navy exam. You must need also a good physical

health.

After selection in the exam you must need a training which is provided

by the merchant navy and after then you can join merchant navy in

any one of the department :

->Deck
->Catering
->Engine.

So according to eligibility criteria you can not apply for merchant navy

after 10th. So i advise you to do 10+2 course and then apply for the

merchant navy.

friend you can fill rating career opportunity as the entry scheme is just after 10std but not the officer one ....

Details of Career in Merchant navy is given below ...

student can pursued either

1- as an officer i.e (radio officer, purser)
or
as a rating in 2 specialized field i.e
1- as an marine engineering,
2- as a Nautical (deck)

Officers :-

-3 year degree course in Nautical Science for (10+2) students.
-4 year degree course in Marine Engineering for (10+2) students.
-2 year course for Diploma Holders.
-1 year course for Graduate Mechanical Engineers.
-3 month course for Deck Cadets for (10+2) students.

Rating (Entry standard Xth):-

- 4 month Pre-Sea Course for General Purpose (GP) rating.
- 3 month Pre-Sea Course for Deck rating.
- 3 month Pre-Sea Course for Engine rating.
- 4 month Pre-Sea Course for Saloon rating.

-> In addition to this they can join as an utility hand or petty officer after completing four basics course

'All India Merchant Navy Entrance Test' manually conducted every year, in the month of december, its an online test.Forms are released in november, you can get the application forms from official branches of 'Axis bank'.

You can join merchant navy as entry into:

Rating (Entry standard Xth)

You are eligible to join Merchant Navy as GPR (General Purpose Rating) on the basis of 10th standard.

Minimum educational qualification required to be eligible for GPR is 10th passout with minimum 45% marks in EMS. Acceptable age is 17 1/2 to 21 years on the date of commecement of training. You can directly contact the concerned marine institutes to take admission.
