Yes, The government had earlier decided to treat diploma (degree) holders of the state who had done their diploma from educational institutions of the state, approved by AICTE would be treated having an academic qualification equivalent to intermediate (10+2). |

Re: Is Diploma engineering equivalent to 12th? The educational qualification required for police constable job in any state police is 10+2 passed or its equivalent. Diploma in engineering is equivalent to 12th. You will be eligible for this job. It is true that Supreme court has given judgement that where ever 12th is minimum academic qualification, diploma will be considered as its equivalent for government job and higher courses. |

Re: Is Diploma engineering equivalent to 12th? Yes, the Diploma in Engineering and 12th standard are equivalent. Both these courses can be pursued after completion of 10th standard. The duration of Diploma course is 3 years and that of 11th and 12th standard is 2 years. But, in general the Diploma course has higher value when compared with 12th standard. There are more job opportunities available to Diploma holders than the candidates who have pursued 12th standard. |

As you said that Supreme Court has declared that diploma in Engineering is equivalent to intermediate, so you don't have to worry about that. You can give your police constable paper without any hesitation. Thanks |

Re: Is Diploma engineering equivalent to 12th? *Diploma in any stream of engineering is a technical course and is considered equivalent to senior secondary board of education in most of the government jobs and higher studies course. *So you will be eligible for recruitment as Police Constable if you have done diploma in engineering and it will be considered as equivalent to 12th. |
