IPS stands for Indian Police Service IPS aspirants first crack the Civil Examination Civil Examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission in yearly ones.... for this Civil Examination some eligibility criteria are required ,if you are satisfy these eligibility criteria then you are eligible for this examination i.e. Educational Qualification Age Limit Nationality Physical standards etc............... Re: Information about IPS exam date and qualifications? IPS - Indian Police Service and to become an IPS officer one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC every year. The eligible candidate must be an Indian national having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate with good Physical Fitness. Apart from this the aspiring candidate should have minimum Physical requirement like:- HEIGHT - General/OBC Male-165cm and Female-150cm while SC/ST male-160cm and Female-145cm. CHEST - Male-84cm while Female-79cm expandable to 5cm in both the cases. The selection is through three phases:- CSAT - Civil Service Aptitude Test - Preliminary Exam Civil Service Main Personal Interview The notification for 2013 Civil Service Exam has already been declared and the CSAT exam will be held in the month of June 2013. Re: Information about IPS exam date and qualifications? ips exam date is published you can check in www.upsc.gov.in education - PG Exam - Physical test- Height Male 165 cm (for General,SC,OBC) Pahari* Male (general also) & ST (not the SC/ OBC) 160 cm *those living in north-east-hill states Female 150 cm Pahari Female (general also) & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm Chest Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm. Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm. (Those who cant expand the chest go to next service. If expansion is less during 1st Medical, i.e. just after interview; during second Medical, i.e. after the result, or appeal, expansion can be shown.) Many people fail in this test of chest expansion. (I know some people who have cleared this exam during the second Medical Test, i.e. after the Medical Exam conducted after the declaration of Final result) Eye sight 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. Near vision J 1 for good eye. J2 for worst eye. The correction is by lenses only. High standard for the Colour-blind test. No inherent night blindness. Vision should stereoscopic. Blood pressure (High) Age 23 ? 123, age 24 ? 124, age 25 ?122, age 28 ? 124, age 30 ?125, age 32 ? 126, age 34 ? 127. Ladies should not be pregnant at the time of Medical Test. Ear- good listening & normal ear cavity. 1000 to 4000 frequency hearing impairment shd not be more than 30 decibels. Nasal- candidate should not stammer while speaking. Number of Attempts - Four attempts for general category - Seven for OBCs and - No limit for SCs/STs. |

Physical qualification for IPS: Height: The male candidate should be 165cm and female candidate should be 150cm for general category candidates. In the case of candidates coming under SC/ST/OBC the height required is 160cm for male and 145cm for female. Chest: Minimum requirement in the case of male candidates is 84cm and they should be able to expand the chest for 5cm. In the case of female candidates the minimum requirement is 79cm and they should be able to expand the chest for 5cm. Eye sight: 6/12 or 6/9 distant vision for worse eye and 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. Near vision for worse eye is J2 and for good eye is J1. SC/ST/OBC and ex-servicemen are given exemption of 3 to 5 years in maximum age limit. People belonging to general category can appear for IPS exam four times, while OBCs can appear for seven times but no limit has been set for SC/ST. keep in mind, even appearing in just exam is counted as an attempt. Eligibility criteria for IPS examination:- Educational Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree of a recognized university with at least one of the subjects namely: Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification. Age limit: - 21 years must be completed and Maximum 30 on 1st August of the year, for general category, - 21 to 33 years for OBCs and -21 to 35 years for SCs/STs. Number of Attempts - Four attempts for general category - Seven for OBCs and - No limit for SCs/STs.
