Re: Is a colour blind candidate eligible for UPSC Civil Services Exams? Please dont feel disappointed because Color blind candidates are eligible for the Civil Services Examination. However you can not apply for Indian Police Service and Indian Forest Service. But you certainly can apply for the Indian Administrative Service. Such problems are no issue in IAS. As a matter of fact person with disabilities are allowed to appear for the Indian Administrative Service. There is even a quota for the PWD candidates. Unfortunately you will not be eligible for this quota however you certainly are eligible for the Indian Adminstrative Service. Therefore when you apply for the Civil Services Examination please ensure that you apply for the Indian Administrative Service. Otherwise you will get disqualified during the medical tests. IAS Eligibility 1. Nationality: Only Indian citizens will be allowed to appear. 2. Qualification: Under graduate degree in any discipline. 3. Marks Criteria: There isn't any. 4. Age Limit: You must be 21 years old to appear and at the same time less than 30 years old. 5. Relaxation: Upper age limit relaxation is 3 years for the OBC while 5 years for the Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe candidates. 6. Please note there are no physical criteria for the Indian Administrative Service. Selection Procedure 1. Preliminary Exam 2. Main Exam 3. Interview (Personal) Number of Attempts 1. 4 attempts per candidate (General) 2. 7 attempts for OBC candidate. 3. No limit if belongs to SC/ST. |

Re: Is a colour blind candidate eligible for UPSC Civil Services Exams? Dear Friend It is truly said that Color Blindness is incurable and so, if some competition or post doesn't allow color blind persons then you can never be a part of that. A color blind person is not eligible for certain services but it doesn't mean that color blind persons are debarred from the examination. You are eligible for civil services examination but you should not choose services like; Indian Police Services, Pondichery Police Services etc. You can apply for Indian Administrative Services, Indian Revenue services, Indian Foreign Services, etc. For any further details you may visit: www.upsc.gov.in |
