The paper contains 100 marks and 8 questions out of which the students will have to attempt any 5. All questions are descriptive and carry equal marks. The questions are on one of the biggest threats of water pollution and how water can be managed for future environmental sustainability. Some of the questions are: explain what are water borne diseases, describe the process of aerobic and anaerobic treatment, define the terms of point source and non-point source of pollution with examples, list the major types of pollution in developing countries, describe primary and secondary wastewater treatment, why are stop-gap pollution control measures viewed as essential in terms of long term sustainability, give a descriptive account of rural watershed management, describe the water quality standards in India and compare them to the worldwide standards, write a note on the water prevention and control of pollution act of 1974, describe the hydrological cycle with appropriate diagram.
