The core syllabus highlighted for the International Baccalaureate (IB Board)-12th IB Diploma Programme has the main topics of physics developed and elaborated so that students can gain an advanced level of knowledge and information in the required fields. It has physical measurements, mechanics, fields, forces, energy dynamics, power changes electric currents, thermal physics, oscillation and waves and atomic physics (nuclear) as its broad topics. There are other topics in the HL field that have been given as options namely relativity (relativistic kinematics), particle physics (particle interaction and cosmology) and medical physics (radiation in medicine) that have relatively newer theories and postulates as far as the rest of the theories are concerned. Subtopics that are widely covered within the syllabus overview are vectors and scalars, kinematics of work, energy and power, thermal characteristics of matter, wave properties, simple harmonic motion, uniform circular motion, electrical circuits, gravitational, electric and magnetic force and radioactivity.
