Eligible age for 1st Class as per CBSE rules
My son's DOB is 15 Dec 2016 and studying in Pre-Nursery now...
Pre-Nursery - upto March 2020 Nursery - upto March 2021 Prep - upto March 2022 By March 2023 he will be 5 years & 4 months old. Will he eligible for admission to 1st class in CBSE school in Delhi... Please clarify... |

AS per the National Education Policy, the minimum age limit is 6 years and maximum is 8 years. Usually calculated on 31st March of the academic year, i.e if you plan to join in for 2023-2024 academic session, the child must be 6 years as on March 31st (some school calculate for July 31st) of 2023.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) rules, the minimum age for admission to Class 1 is six years.
The Uttar Pradesh government has fixed the minimum age for admission to Class 1 at six years, while the Delhi government has fixed it at five years. |

The respective State governments have mandated six years to be the minimum age for admission to class I from the academic year 2025. According to a senior MoE official, the 5+3+3+4 envisaged in the policy promotes seamless learning and development of children from pre-school to class 2.
