Sericulture is the method of rearing silkworms for the manufacture of raw silk. The term sericulture is originally derived from both Greek and English word. The words are ‘sericos’ which is a Greek word and ‘culture’ which is an English word. Together this word means ‘rearing of silk’. Who is eligible to apply?

The basic qualification that is needed to join the graduate course in sericulture is a pass in class 12 with a strong background in biology. After finishing graduation, it is possible for aspirants to go for the Masters course or for research with any institute that offers sericulture as a subject.
