Common Entrance Exam for Design is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay for admission to postgraduate programmes in design. Candidates who have completed graduation in Architecture/ Design or Interior Design with a minimum of 55 % marks in aggregate are eligible for this exam. There will be questions to test the candidate’s design aptitude, logical reasoning and communication skills. Practicing the previous years question papers is the best way to crack this exam.

Eligibility Criterion for Common Entrance Exam for Design

Candidates who wish to write Common Entrance Exam for Design are required to complete Bachelor of Engineering in Architecture/ Design or Interior Design. Apart from this candidates who have completed Master’s degree in Arts/ Science/ Computer Applications are also eligible to apply. Those who have completed 4 years Bachelor of Fine Arts course after higher secondary education can also appear for this examination. Aggregate marks of 55 % marks is required in the qualifying examination. There is no age limit for this examination. Moreover candidates can appear for this exam any number of times.

Exam Pattern of Common Entrance Exam for Design

There will be questions to measure candidate’s Written Communication, Design Aptitude and Drawing Skills etc. The examination comprises of two parts, A and B. Part A is screening test. Candidates who have cleared the screening test will be shortlisted for Part B. Medium of instruction will be English Language. The time duration of the examination is 3 hours and carries a total of 100 marks.

Syllabus of Common Entrance Exam for Design

There will be questions for 15 marks in Visual Perception and Design Sensitivity and Drawing Abilities and Skills . Questions will be asked for 20 marks from topics like Creativity and Problem Identification and Analysis. Design problem Solving will have questions carrying 30 marks.

Part B will contain questions to analyze the candidate’s Written Communication, English Comprehension and Precise writing skills.

Preparation Tips for Common Entrance Exam for Design

Candidates are advised to undertake mock test for this examination. As it is a national level test, competition will be intense. Candidates who appear for this examination are usually from different streams. There is no reference book prescribed for this examination. Hence candidates can download previous question papers and practice them to clear the examination. Special consideration should be given to English comprehension as this is an area where candidates with good communication skills can score high.

    My son has joined BSc-Statistics in 2012 . Pl let me know whether this field is okay for career. Where , he can get job after completion of BSc-Statistics. If he do MSc-Statistic, will it be good for career. Pl reply us.
