Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) was established as a education an research university in the year 1969 by an act of parliament. The faculty of the university comprises of total 550 persons. There are around 5000 students in the university. The campus of the university is spreaded in 1000 acres area of a forest on a ridge of the Aravalli Hills. G. Parthasarathy was the first vice chancellor of the university. The major objective behind the establishment of the university was to make it a premier institution of higher learning for students.
