Profile:

Aliah University was established in the year 1781 in the state of Calcutta. Initially the university was ran by the Warren Hastings for almost a year and a half. Later the university was reimbursed by the Bengal Government. Aliah university is an autonomous institution of higher learning under the department of Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education, Government of West Bengal. Mr. M.K. Narayanan (Honourable Governor of West Bengal) is the chancellor of the university. Professor Syed Samsul Alam is the Vice Chancellor of the university.
