Those who completed their Diploma course are directly eligible to join in 2nd year B.Tech course through regular or distance mode. In order to get admission for B.Tech, the candidate must completed 3 years Diploma course after completing 10th. Some reputed college may allot admission through lateral entry exams like Joint Entrance Examination of Lateral Entry (JELET), Diploma to Degree Entrance Competitive exam, etc. You need to appear and qualify in the entrance exam in order to get admissions.

To take​ lateral entry admission in B.Tech course after completion of Diploma in Mechanical Engineering course, you have to appear in lateral entry examinations like LEET, JELET, ECET, etc., which is conducted by your respective state board of technical education. The syllabus for lateral entry examinations will be the syllabus of your three years Diploma course. By qualifying the entrance examination and participating in the counselling process, you can get admission in second year of four years B.Tech course.

In order to pursue B.Tech after successful completion of Diploma in Mechanical Engineering course, you are required to follow the below procedure.

As you are done with Diploma in Mechanical Engineering course, I suggest you to appear in written entrance examination which is called "Lateral Entry Engineering Entrance Examination". It is difficult to describe the entire syllabus here, so I request you to purchase lateral entry exam books that are available in the market or available online. So that you may find the detailed syllabus under this Mechanical Engineering stream and Previous year papers will be given at the back of the book. So that you may go through all the required material from Diploma Lateral Entry Examination books.

So if you can score good marks in this Lateral Entry Engineering Entrance Examination, then you may find seat in top colleges that offer B.Tech course.

Since, you have completed your Diploma course in Mechanical Engineering, you are very much eligible to take admission in B.Tech course in the same field.
After the completion of your Diploma course, you must have to appear and qualify in the entrance examination conducted by the respective State Council or National council. Once you qualify in the examination, you can apply in different Colleges offering the said course through lateral entry process to grab a seat there.

For getting admission in B.Tech course by using lateral Entry scheme, you need to give a entrance test. Your score or rank will decide which college will you get. Once procedure for examination is over then you need to go for counselling to get a seat in any college. The students have higher marks or lower rank will get seat first.

You will get all information regarding form filling and form releasing dates from your institute admin block. The only thin you need to do is to visit there and ask for process. They will provide you application form after filling it prepare yourself for entrance exam.

For lateral entry admission in B.Tech degree course, you need to appear for state level engineering entrance exam of your respective state, like UPSEE, LEET, JELET, etc.

Admission will be on the basis of performance in the entrance exam conducted by the concerned university and seats are allotted based on your rank.
