After completion of diploma course, you are not eligible for CID officer post. So after diploma course, you can do B.Tech course to become a CID officer.

If you have completed graduation degree from a recognized University then you are eligible for CID officer entrance exam which is conducted by Staff Selection Commission through CGL entrance exam.

Your age should be in between 18 to 27 years.

Being a student of diploma in mechanical engineer you are not eligible to apply for CID officer examination. The minimum qualification to become a CID officer is bachelor's degree from a recognized college/university. Your age should be in between 20 to 27 years and age relaxation will be applicable for the reserved category candidates. You must be an Indian citizen and should be mentally and physically fit.

With this eligibility criteria you have to appear for CGPE examination conducted by SSC board every year. The selection will be done on the basis of marks secured in the examination followed by personal interview and physical test. As you want to become a CID officer, so after completing diploma in mechanical engineering you have to continue your studies and complete your bachelor's degree and appear for CGPE examination.
