I have scored 430 in WBHSE HS, 779 in Madhyamik, my marks in HS are : -
Maths - 94
Chem - 90
Bio - 90
Phys - 76
Eng - 86
Beng - 70

& in Madhyamik my marks are -
Maths - 100
Physical Science - 99
Life Science - 98

my total aggregate accrndng 2 Jadavpur is 719 out of 800 (almost 90%)

Can I get admission in Jadavpur for Chem hnrs ths year?
or St. Xaviers?
their cut off is 75%,bt the trend is much higher than this.so pls tell me if I can get admission in ny of ths colleges.

Yeah definitely you will get Jadavpur university and St.Xaviers also.


dont worry apply for both and you would be selected for both or even one.

Merit list is prepared such that they starts selecting student with highest percentile say starting from 95% student and almost admission closed at 80% percentile getting student.

The remainng seats are for MAnagement Quota.

Yeah you will surely get admission as you are within cutoffs for getting Biology Honours.

But apart from Cutoff marks Admission to Presidency is based on Written Admission Test, so if you have performed well then admission Test then why not.....!

Dont worry you will be selected surely........!

As you have been already selected in 1st list that means, you will surely get admission, Interview is just a Formality main thing is your Percentage, which is good enough for getting there.

However, the thing which will able to get you selected in Intertview is Good command over english speaking and your Frank nature in the Interview.

There is a very little chance of getting into others except Jogamaya devi.
Scottish has very less seats and the percentage required is 83 this year.
Same for maulana azad.

Marks obtained in top five subjects shall be considered to ascertain the aggregate marks of a candidate passing the examination under grade system. Also for candidates passing the H.S. (10+2) Examination from the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education under old system, marks obtained in top five subjects shall be considered to determine the aggregate marks (CSR/41/07, dt. 29.03.07).

Marks obtained in Environmental Education as a compulsory subject at the H.S. (10+2) Examination conducted by the West Bengal Council of H.S. Education or its equivalent shall not be taken into account for calculating the aggregate marks in top five subjects for the purpose of admission at the degree course of studies under this University (vide Circular no. C.S./1491/07, dt. 04.06.07 issued by the Secretary, Councils for U.G. Studies, C.U.)

Students of the (10+2) level passing out from the All India Boards/Councils (i.e. C.B.S.E., I.S.C. and National Institute of Open Schooling) need not require to submit the Migration Certificate for getting registration under this University, (vide ref. No. R/103/circular (2007) dt.22.05.07 of the Registrar, C.U.).

2. No candidate shall be allowed for admission after a lapse of more than 3 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination or discontinuation of recognised regular courses of study after passing the previous qualifying examination.

Explanation : The year of admission will not be taken into account while calculating 3 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination

3. A candidate taking up Honours Course in a subject must obtain:

(i)A minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination (in case of B.Mus. Hons. 45% marks in the aggregate and 45% marks in the subject Music in the pre-qualifying examination) Vide Notification No- CSR/37/06, dated 21.8.06
OR
(ii) 55% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination (in case of B.Mus. Hons. 50% marks in the subject at the pre-qualifying examination)
OR
(iii) 50% marks in aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subject in his/her previous qualifying examination provided all other clauses are satisfied (in case of B.Mus. Hons. 45% marks in the aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subject Music in his/her pre-qualifying examination). Admission will be made on the basis of test held by the college authority for the purpose.
However, candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribe community taking up Honours Course of study must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate or 40% marks in the subject or related subjects at the previous qualifying examinations, as the case may be.

4. For the B.A. or B.Sc.(Honours, General and Major) Courses of studies, a candidate is required to choose his/her Honours and two/three elective subjects, as the case may be, from among Group I to VIII by taking not more than one subject from any of the groups mentioned hereunder:

6. Some special conditions for admission to Honours Courses in Accounting and Finance, Marketing, Economics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Physiology, Food and Nutrition, Education, Philosophy, Anthropology,Sociology, Botany and Zoolgy :

i) For admission to the B.Com. Honours courses in ‘Accounting and Finance’ or ‘Marketing’, the word “subject” or “related subject” shall mean the following :

Accountancy, Business Economics including Business Mathematics, Business organisation, Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Business Studies, Office Practice and Secretarial Practice, Financial Accounting, Elements of Cost Accountancy and Auditing, Book Keeping, Commerce, Cost Accountancy and Principles of Management



ii) Economics: A candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Economics if he/she has passed in Mathematics at the H.S. Examination (10+2) conducted by West Bengal Council of H.S. Education or its equivalent examination in Mathematics/ Business Mathematics of ISC.
Students who passed Business Economics including Business Math in H.S. (10+2) level from W.B. Council of H.S. Education are not eligiblefor admission in the Honours Course in Economics.

iii) Mathematics: A candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Mathematics if he/she has passed in Mathematics at the previous qualifying examination. However, a candidate who has passed Business Mathematics is not eligible for admission to Mathematics Honours Course.

iv) Chemistry: A candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Chemistry if he/she has passed Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at the previous qualifying examination

v) Biochemistry: A candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Biochemistry if he/she has passed Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology/ Biotechnology at the previous qualifying examination.

A candidate of B.Sc.(Honours) in Biochemistry shall have to take up elective subjects as stand hereunder and in conformity with grouping of subjects :
a)Any one of the subjects : Physics/ Mathematics/ Statistics
b)Any one of the subjects : Zoology/ Botany/ Microbiology/ Physiology/ Molecular Biology

vi) Microbiology: A candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Microbiology if he/she has passed the subject Biology/Biotechnology and Chemistry in the previous qualifying examination

Subject Combination for Microbiology : Chemistry and any one of the following subjects:
a)Mathematics b) Physics C) Computer Science d) Botany e) Zoology f) Physiology.

vii) Physiology: A candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Physiology if he/she has passed the subject Physiology/ Biology/ Bio- technology and Chemistry in the previous qualifying examination. The subject Biology/ Biotechnology may be treated as related subject.

viii) Food and Nutrition: A candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Food and Nutrition if he/ she has passed in Chemistry in the previous qualifying examination and have to take up Chemistry as one of the elective subjects.

ix) Education: The subject Psychology/ Philosophy/ Mathematics/ Sociology/ Economics/ Political Science/ History be treated as related subject.

x) Philosophy: The subject Psychology be treated as related subject

xi) Anthropology: The subject Biology be treated as related subject. A candidate shall not be allowed to take up Anthropology along with Sociology.

xii) Sociology: The subject Psychology/ Political Science be treated as related subject.

xiii) Botany: The subject Biology/ Biotechnology be treated as related subject.

xiv) Zoology: The subject Biology/ Biotechnology be treated as related subject.
