Re: Is MBA before IAS helpful?
Hi dear,
Well, basically MBA will not be much helpful in this regard. Since your final goal is Civil service, then opting for MBA to make your way easy to reach there is not a good option. However, if you really wants to persue the course which will be much helpful for getting through civil services then opting for master degree in subject like- Political science, History, English etc. is a smart option. It will help you alot in getting through Civil service entrance. However, going for MBA through CAT, XAT will be little bit good option because the GD & PI faced there will help you during 3rd step slelection of Civil Service, if you able to clear first 2 ones. More or less which degree you are earning will not much effect, because Civil service syllabus and the whole entrance is a different thing, even a MA history candidate can not be sure that he/she will score best in history paper of priliminary or main. Civil Service requres Entirely different Concept and level of preparetion. Thanks |

Re: Is MBA before IAS helpful?
dear friend
we cant just tell you precisely how much time is required to prepare foe IAS exam , because IAS preparation is a long process , there are some people who started their preparation when they where in schools ,usully what people do is that after graduation or any other course they spent one whole year just for the IAS preparation , and also the duration may depend up on the ability of the person . any way what i want to tell you that , don't wait for an opportunity to start studying ,rather you start your preparation when you are doing any other studies . |

Re: Is MBA before IAS helpful?
It will be an added advantage for you by completing MBA course.
But it will take 2 years of time to complete MBA course which is a Post Graduation level course. The minimum academic qualification that is required for the candidates to apply for civil services is by completion of Graduation with any of the stream. In such a case, you can apply for civil services soon after the completion of your B.Tech course. Moreover civil services is one of the toughest exam in India that requires good amount of preparation to crack it. So, my suggestion would be to please concentrate towards the preparation for civil services exam. MBA course, you can do it in distance learning also. You can do that you are placed in civil services. However the final decision is of your interest. Wish you all the best. |

Re: Is MBA before IAS helpful?
Hi everyone I have completed B.E(CSE branch). Now I am planning to crack the civil service exams, it's my ultimate goal. But I'm also thinking about doing MBA in correspondence. Could anyone tell me that which branch is good for me in MBA, that might even help me in civil service career.
