IAS Exam (Indian Administrative Exam)
IAS exams is conducted as Civil Services Exam conducted in a Year by UPSC.

Number of Attempts for IAS exams:
04 attempts for General Category, 07 for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs.

If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt.

Eligibility criteria in Details:
Educational Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree of a recognized university

Age limit: 21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, which a candidate is appearing. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs.

Sir,For IAS, one need to go through a civil services examination conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year.
Here i am providing the maximum number of attempts that a candidate can attempt IAS Exam.
Candidates who belong to General category can appear for a maximum of 4 times.
Candidates who belong to OBC, can appear for a maxmum of 7 times.
For the candidates who belong to SC/ST category, can appear for any number of times. For these candidates there are no restrictions on the number of attempts for IAS Exam.
In order to be eligible, one should have completed Graduation from a recognized university.

I'm a diploma holder in Mechanical Engineering & working as a Jr.Engineer (Q.C) in a MNC company since 1997. But I want to become a ISO 9000 internal or external auditor . Is I am elgible for that ? If I'm elgible for that what is the procedure ? Please help me to reach my goal .

Age Limit

The upper age limit is relaxed in specific cases as mentioned below:

You can make four attempts in total to crack the IAS Exam.
However an individual from the OBC can make seven (7) attempts with three years upper age relaxation.

There is no restriction on the number of times an individual from ST/SC category can attempt for the Civil Services. Individuals from the ST/SC category enjoy a five year relaxation to the upper age limit.

To be eligible for this exam, you must in the age group 21-30 yrs (relaxation for reserved category). Number of attempts are also limited, 4 for general, 6 for OBC, while SC/ST no limit.

Firstly, you have to cracked the preliminary examination, this examination is objective one and there are two papers in this examination and you have to appear for both papers in same day. If you cracked this examination, you are eligible for Mains. For Civil service examination, you need to choose two optionals for Mains exam

This examination is conducted in these 2 stages, preliminary examination and Main examination

You need to be a citizen of India.

Educational Qualifications:-

=> Only graduates can apply for this examination. Although you can get the degree in any discipline of your choice but it should be attained from a recognized university.

=> If you have already appeared for the final qualifying exam and is waiting for the results to come out then you can sit for the preliminary examination.

=> During the Main Examination though you will have to produce the proof of passing the examination.

=> If any candidate has passed the MBBS examination but have not completed their internship by the time of submission of their applications, he will also be admitted provisionally.

Age Limits:-

Lower age limit for giving this exam is 21 years and upper age limit is 30 years.

There is relaxation for the following candidates:-

• Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe: 5 years
• Other Backward Classes: 3 years
• Defence Services Personnel : 5 years (max)
• Ex-servicemen: 5 years

Number of attempts:-

• Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates: No restriction.
• Other Backward Classes: seven attempts.

Please Note:- If you give the prelim exam that also will be counted as an attempt. Appearing for only one paper in the prelim exam too means attempting the exam once.
