Yes, you are eligible for IAS exam conducted by UPSC, but you are in the border line as the maximum age limit will be 30 years. So don't waste time apply as soon as possible when the application form will be published. The educational qualification will be graduation in any discipline. thank you! |

Minimum age : 21 years and Maximum age : 30 years. Maximum Age Relaxation :- 1) For SC and ST -> 5 years. 2) For Other Backward Classes -> 3 years. 3) For domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir -> 5 years. 4) For Defence Services personnel -> 3 years. 5) For ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs -> 5 years. |

Age limit is 21-30 years as on 1.7.2005 and there will be some exemptions for SC/ST or some other categories as follows
i. A candidate must have attained 21 years and not be over 30 years on August 1 of the year of examination. ii. The upper age limit is relaxed in specific cases as mentioned below: a. upto a maximum of 5 years if the candidate belongs to SC/ST. b. upto a maximum of 3 years if the candidate belongs to Other Backward Classes. c. upto a maximum of 5 years if the candidate had been domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir during the period between January 1, 1980 and December 31, 1989. d. upto a maximum of 3 years in the case of Defence Services personnel disabled during hostilities with foreign countries or in a disturbed area and consequently released. e. upto a maximum of 5 years in the case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs / SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on August 1 of the year of examination and have been released: o on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within one year from August 1 of the year of examination) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency, or o on account of physical disability attributable to Military Service, or o on invalidment. f. upto a maximum of 5 years in the case of ECOs / SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment (5 years Military Service) as on August 1 of the year of examination and whose assignment has been extended beyond 5 years. Such candidates will have to provide a certificate from the Ministry of Defence stating that they can apply for civil employment and they will be released on a notice of 3 months, upon selection, from the date of receipt of offer of appointment. g. upto a maximum of 10 years in the case of blind, deaf-mute and orthopaedically handicapped candidates. |

Hello friend,
An individual who has resided in Jammu & Kashmir during the period between January 1, 1980 and December 31, 1989 are eligible for relaxation of five years. Hence, the maximum age limit for such candidates, to appear in the civil service exam, is 35 years. |

if you were domiciled during 1-1-1980 to 31-12-1989 in J&K, then 5 year is relaxed in addition to 30 years.
so, in your case you are eligible for appearing in UPSC cs prelims exam. good luck!! |

Hello Friend, The maximum age limit for IAS exam is 30 years but for the candidates domiciled in J&K between January 1, 1980 and December 31, 1989, Addtional 5 years of age relaxation has been given to them. so the maximium age limit for the resident of J&K between January 1, 1980 and December 31, 1989 is 35 years.

The maximum age for appearing in IAS examination is 30 years for all the candidate except reservation category. If your age as on 1st august is 30 year then you can apply for this exam. 21-30 years as on 1.7.2011. (Upper age limit relaxable for SCs/STs, OBCs and certain other categories as specified in Para 3(ii) of Notice) and also No. of permissible attempts : Four (Seven attemps of OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs (Para 3 (iv) of Notice) Kindly check all of the above criterion before applying. age limit for IAS exam is from 21- 30 years .only the candidates having there age according to this limit are eligible for examination. In addition relaxation of 5 years is given to SC?ST category candidates relaxation of 3years is given to OBC candidate. there is also a relexation of 5 years for JAMMU AND KASHMIR domicile HOW TO APPLY:- candidates who have completed there graduation can apply for IAS the exams are conducted by the UPSC once in a year. you have to fill the UPSC form for IAS exam. best of luck |

You just mentioned your age but not the category to which you belong which will be important to meet the eligibility criteria.
In order to appear for IAS exam, one should be in the age group of 21-30 years by August 1st of the year of commencement of exam. This age criteria is for general category. Anyway there is relaxation in the upper age limit for the candidates of other categories . It is as follows. Relaxation of 3 years for OBC candidates. In that way their maximum age to appear for the exam is 33 years. Relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST candidates. In that way their maximum age to appear for the exam is 35 years. |

according to IAS age regulation a candidate can attain a maximum of 30 years age
but also there is an age relaxation for jammu kashmir residents/domicile which is generally considered to be 5 years so you can appear for exams this time and also for next four years good luck |
