Maximum age limit for appearing in IAS?
HELLO , I wish to know what is the max age limit for appearing in IAS for residents of J&K? I am a medical doctor Extremely interested in appearing for IAS. I am 30 yrs old (DOB--11/07/1980) and a resident of Srinagar , Kashmir. THANXXX

Hello friend,
An individual who has resided in Jammu & Kashmir during the period between January 1, 1980 and December 31, 1989 are eligible for relaxation of five years. Hence, the maximum age limit for such candidates, to appear in the civil service exam, is 35 years. |

Age Limit i. A candidate must have attained 21 years and not be over 30 years on August 1 of the year of examination. ii. The upper age limit is relaxed in specific cases as mentioned below: a. Upto a maximum of 5 years if the candidate belongs to SC/ST. b. Upto a maximum of 3 years if the candidate belongs to Other Backward Classes. c. Upto a maximum of 5 years if the candidate had been domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir during the period between January 1, 1980 and December 31, 1989. d. Upto a maximum of 3 years in the case of Defence Services personnel disabled during hostilities with foreign countries or in a disturbed area and consequently released. e. Upto a maximum of 5 years in the case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs / SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on August 1 of the year of examination and have been released on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within one year from August 1 of the year of examination) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency, or on account of physical disability attributable to Military Service, or on invalidment. f. Upto a maximum of 5 years in the case of ECOs / SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment (5 years Military Service) as on August 1 of the year of examination and whose assignment has been extended beyond 5 years. Such candidates will have to provide a certificate from the Ministry of Defence stating that they can apply for civil employment and they will be released on a notice of 3 months, upon selection, from the date of receipt of offer of appointment. g.Upto a maximum of 10 years in the case of blind, deaf-mute and orthopaedically handicapped candidates. regards azhar |

For any Indian resident the age criteria is like this: the candidate must be more than 20 years and not be over 30 years on August 1 of the year of examination i.e IAS exam. So don't worry, i think you are eligible for appearing at IAS exam. Best of luck! |

If you belong to the general category then you should not be more than 30 Years Old on 1st August of the year of exam. So i think you wont be eligible since on 1st august you will be 31 years.

Only Indian nationals are eligible for IAS and IPS. A candidate must have attained 21 years and should not be over 30 years. SC/ST has 5 years of relaxation. 3 years relaxation is offered to Other Backward class and 10 years for blind, deaf-mute and orthopaedically handicapped candidates.

According to me Maximum age limit for appearing in IAS is For General your age must be within 21-30 years for OBC and SC/ST their is age relaxation . dear friend, since last year the age limit for IAS were 30 for general category and 3 year and 5 yrs age extention for OBC and SC,ST respectively but now Upsc made some chances for general it had limited to 28 and others as 30

let me tell u , the age criteria is 21 to 30 years.. as u r saying that ur age is 30, then ur age should not cross 30 befor the next ies exam, only then u can appear in IES exam.. otherwise it will be too late.. so all the best... |

the maximum age limit for general candidates is 30 years and maximum 4 attempts. the maximum age limit for obc candidates is 33 years and maximum 5 attempts. the maximum age limit for sc candidates is 35 years and maximum 7 attempts. etc. all the best. |

Qualifications requirement to sit for IAS exam is given below 1.minimum qualification graduation in any subject, with 55% marks in graduation. and 60% marks for engineering holders. age limit is 21-29 year. all the best......... |
