Friend , i have described here all the basic eligibility criteria required to join Indian Army Through NDA :

* You must be a citizen of India.

* Your age must lie in between 16.5-19 years.

* You must have completed your 12th with a minimum of 45% marks in any stream except biology from any recognized college / board.

* You should be physically and mentally fit.


The eligibility criteria required to join Indian Army through CDS exam are ;

* You must be a citizen of India.

* You must have completed your graduation from any recognized college / university.

* Your age must lie in between 21-30 years.

* You should be physically and mentally fit.

This is the information i have to the best of my knowledge regarding your query. Hope the information will help you to the extent you wanty.

I Sony chail pursuing engg final yr frm E&TC branch. i really wnt to join indian army.i wnt to ask u dat the aggregate percentage u consider is of all 4 yrs of BE or jst final yr ?if i will score above 60 % in final year then is it sufficient to join indian army as my aggregate percentage of 4 yrs will be less than 60% so i m quite worried.. one more thing i wnt to ask u is for those students who wasted der 1 or 2 yr in der degree dat means completed der degree in 5 or 6 yrs inspite of 4 yrs can apply for indian army?

Nice to see that you are Interested to Join Indian Army, But you have not mentioned your Qualification in your Question, But Dont worry because Here I am Providing you the Necessary Requirements to Join Indian Army, You can Join Army by these Examinations :

>> National Defence Academy Examination
>> Combined Defence Academy Examination
>> 10+2 Technical Entry Scheme
>> University Entry Scheme

If you have completed your +2 Examination in any stream from a recognised Board, then you are eligible for Army wings of NDA, But for this your age should between 16.5 to 19 Years, No upper age relaxation is applicable for any candidates.
If you have completed your Graduation then you can apply for CDS Examination to Join Indian Military Academy, To apply for CDS Examination your age should between 19 to 25 Years.
Both NDA and CDS Examination is Conducted by UPSC, Twice in a year. Eligible candidates may fill the application form Online Only.
If you have scored minimum 70% Marks with Maths and Physics as a compulsory subjects, then you are eligible for Technical Entry scheme of Army.
Those who have completed his Engineering graduate degree course are eligible for University Entry Scheme.

Physical Requirements :
>> You must be in good physical and mental health and free from anydisease
>> The minimum acceptable height for male candidates is 157.5 cms.
>> For Women candidates minimum acceptable height is 152 cms.
>> You should be able to read 6/6 in a distant vision chart with each eyewith or without glasses
>> Myopia should not be more than 3.5D and hypermetropia not more than3.5D including Astigmatism.

So, If you have fulfill the above criteria then you can join Indian Army, You can apply for NDA (I) Examination before last date i.e on 30/Jan/2012.

If you have completed your Graduate degree course then please apply for CDS (II) Examination after declaring the Notification and if you need more Information then check official website :

Dear!!!
Its good to know that,you want to serve the nation by joining Indian army, I appreciate it.
One can apply in Indian army through NATIONAL DFENECE ACADEMY (NDA), which is conducted by the UPSC every year for twice.
The minimum educational requirement for appear in this examination is a 12th degree,.
As, through this examination,one can apply for INDIAN AIR FORCE (IAF), INDIAN NAVAL ACADEMY (NA) & INDIAN MILITARY ACADEMY (IMA).
For apply in IAF & NA , you must posses at least 60% in 12th, with subjects physics & maths, otherwise, you can only eligible for the IMA.

The age limit for this exam is 16.5-19 years.

Physical requirements-





If somehow ,you got over aged for this examination, then after graduation, you can apply for the CDSE (COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICES EXAMINATION),..



For which you must have a graduation degree from a recognized college,.
But for apply in naval(NA) & in air force wing(IAF), you must have engineering degree or equivalent degree from a recognized college with the minimum marks of at least 60%.

The age limit for this examination is 19-23 years [for air force]
19-24 years [for the naval]
19-25 years [for IMA military].

Last years candidates can also apply.



Notification for the UPSC's examinations which have to be held in this current years-



You must have INDIAN nationality with marital status unmarried.

As you are pursing in 5th Semister B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, after completion of B.E. Degree, you will be eligible to apply for Indian Army through CDS entrance examination.

CDS - Combined Defence Service, the exam for which is conducted by UPSC twice every year as CDS-I and CDS-II to join Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officer's Training Academy.

1.Your age limit should be beyween 16.5 to 19 years.

2.There is no age relaxation provided for the reserved category candidates.

**Academic Qualification :
To be eligible for joining in Indian army,you must have to complete your 12th or equivalent from a recognised board/institute.

**Nationality :
You must be a citizen of India.

**Martial Status :
You must be an unmarried Male candidate.

**Personality :

If you want to join the Indian Army, then you have to sit for the NDA exam.

NDA stands for the National Defense Academy.Its is an all India entrance exam which is conducted by the UPSC (union public service commission) every year to recruit candidate wings of the Army, Navy and Air force.


The Basic Eligibility Criteria's for the NDA exam are :


1. You should be an Unmarried Male Indian National.

2. You should have passed class 12th from a recognized school or state board of India.

3. Maths and Physics are compulsory subjects if you want to apply for the Indian Navy or Air Force.

4. Your age should be within 16.5 to 19 years.

5. You should be physically fit and no PD candidates would be allowed in this exam.


So if you satisfy the above conditions, then you may apply for the NDA 2012.

The Notification 2012 has been released very recently on 31st December 2011.

The deadline to apply for NDA is 30th January 2012. Please do the needful before this date.

The exam will be held in various states in India on 15th April 2012 (Sunday).

Hello, I m nisha, I have completed MBA with hr streem. in 2012, my b'date is 13/09/86, and I m ncc b certificate holder, how can I join Indian defence services.

You can always opt for the NDA entrance test provided you have studied math in class 10. During the time of admission, he should be 17 1/2 years and must not be over 23 years of age. There will be a compulsory paper of Mathematics in the NDA Exam, conducted by Union Public Service Commission. After completion of graduation, interested candidates can appear for the SSB exams for Indian Military Academy. While on completion of engineering, one can also enter as TES entry.

Candidates are eligible to make entry into defence services by cracking CDS Exam which is the common written exam for the candidates to be placed in the following defence services

Indian Military Academy
Indian Naval Academy
Indian Air Force Academy
Officers Training Academy

The maximum age limit is there for Officers Training Academy which is 25 years.

As per your date of birth, you have already completed 27 years of age.

In addition to that, you have not completed your Graduation in Engineering and you are pursuing it now.

By the time you complete your Graduation, your age will be more than 27 years of age.

In that case, I am sorry you are not eligible to make entry into defence services as you are going to cross your required age criteria.

I suggest you to apply for any other public services like

Civil Services
Indian Forest Service
Engineering Services etc.

My suggestion for you is to apply for Engineering services soon after the completion of your Engineering course.

here is the age limit for this Exam.

For General category : 21-30 years
For OBC category : 21-33 years
For SC or ST category : 21-35 years

----Women officers are inducted in the Indian Army through the Shot Service Commission (Non-Technical) scheme. Under this scheme, the female candidates aspiring to be part of Indian Army must appear for Combined Defence Services Examination. The CDS exam is conduced twice a year, in the months of July and November by UPSC.

-NOTE:- Age limit is 23 years

-Relaxation available for reserved category candidates.
