Age Limit For NET

The National Eligibility Test(NET) is conducted every year by the UGC(University Grants Commission) in the months of June and December..

A candidate can appear for the NET Exam only if :-

>> The candidate has completed post graduation from a recognized institute with an aggregate of 55% without rounding off..(50% for SC/ST)

>> candidate willing to apply for the JRF program must be less than 28 years of age (no age restriction for lectureship candidates)

So, yes you can apply for NET Exam for the lectureship program..

You will be facing 3 papers in the exam :-

Paper-1 :- 60 questions out of which any 50 are to be attempted in 75 minutes..

Paper-2 :- 50 questions to be done in 75 minutes..

Paper-3 :- 75 questions in 120 minutes..

Age Limit for the exam
Minimum age is 19 years and Maximum age is 28 years.


For Lectureship there is NO AGE Limit.

You must have passed out in Master Degree in Respective Subject.
Computer science and Application.
Electronic Science.
Forensic Science.
Science(Life Science/Earth Atmosphere/Mathematical/Physics/Chemistry/Chemical/Ocean & Planetary).

I have completed my Post Graduation and want to take NET in Dec 2014. I am 30 years old and by that I cannot appear for JRF. Can I apply for Lectureship?

What is the difference between the 2? Do I need any other qualifications for lectureship?
