IPS exam is also called as Civil services exam and it is conducted by UPSC every year. The post associated with the exam is some of the most reputed post in the Police department of India. The exam is conducted in 4 stages which are as follows :-

1. IPS Preliminary exam
2. IPS Mains exam
3. IPS Interview
4. IPS Physical exam

The eligibility criteria of the exam is as follows :-

Education : A degree from a recognized university

Percentage :- There is No minimum percentage criteria

Age limit :- 21-30

Relaxation :- 3 Year for OBC
5 year for Sc and St

Number of attempts :- General 4
OBC :- 7 Attempts
SC and ST Unlimited number of Attempts

Subject :- There is no need to have a specific subject in the graduation and students from
any stream can apply for the exam.


Citizenship :- Only Indian Citizen are eligibile

You must finish your degree

age limit: 20-25 years

Height – Male 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST (not the SC/ OBC) – 160 cm

Female 150 cm Pahari Female (general also) & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm

Chest – Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm.

Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm.

Qualification required is that you should have completed your graduation from a recognized university or college with minimum 60% of marks.

IPS stands for Indian Police Services.

No of chances to appear in the exam is:-

4 chances for GENERAL candidates.
7 chances for OBC candidates.
No Limit for SC/ST.

Exam is conducted in 3 phases:-

Preliminary Exam
Mains Exam
Personal Interview

Minimum age limit is 21 years.
Maximum age limit is 30 years.
