IES entrance test or Indian Engineering Services entrance exam is designed for recruitment of engineers in government services.

IES Exam Eligibility Criteria:-
1) Age Limit:- 21-30 years on the first day of august of the year of examination.
2) Educational Qualifications:-
Applicable for the engineering graduates who have already completed or who are in last year. but last year students are required to produce the proof of passing engineering degree.

IES Exam Selection Procedure:-
1) Written Exam:- Consist of 5 papers of 200 marks each.
2) Personality Interview: who have qualified in written test will be called for personal interview where their personality will be judged, the personality interview will be of 200 marks.

Examination notifications are published in major newspaper and employment news in January / February

Exam is conducted in June/ July every year.

Indian engineering service exam is conducted by the union public service commission. The basic essential requirement for the job includes
1. The aspirant should have completed bachelor degree in engineering from a recognised university under any discipline
2. Final year aspirants are also eligible to appear
3. The minimum are for appearing in the exam is 21. There is no relaxation as per the category.
4. The maximum age for appearing in the exam is 30 for general category aspirant. The age is relaxed to 33 for bc and mbc category. Sc and st category aspirant can appear upto a age of 35.
4. Except st and sc other category aspirant are restricted in the number of attempts. The general category aspirant can make maximum of 4 years while obc, mbc aspirant can make 7 attempts. There is no restriction for the st and sc aspirants
the vacancy available is under the four major discipline
civil engineering, mechanical engineering , electrical engineering and
electronics and instrumentation engineering.
The syllabus for the exam will be as per the basic discipline.

IES or the Indian Engineering Service Exam is conducted by the UPSC once every year..

In order to appear for the Indian Engineering Service..you need to fulfill the following minimum criterion :-

1) You should be within the age limit of 21-30 years for general category,21-33 years for OBC and 21-35 years for SC/ST

2) You should be a B.Tech degree holder or a final year B.Tech degree student in any of the following streams :-

Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering
Electrical Engineering

The maximum number of attempts permitted for the general category is 4,for OBC its 7 and for SC/ST there is no limit..

The next IES Exam shall be conducted on 15th June,2012 for which the forms shall be out on 25th February,2012 and the last date for submission of the forms is 26th March,2012..

I.E.S exam stands for Indian Engineering service examination which is conducted by U.P.S.C.

ELIGIBILITY:-

--You must be a graduate holder in Engineering to apply for this exam.
--Or, you must be a degree holder in engineering with following streams.
1)Civil Engineering
2)Electrical Engineering
3)Mechanical engineering
4)Electronics and Communication Engineering

--Final year candidates are also eligible for the exam.
--Candidate must not have any pending backlogs.
--Only passing mark is required to apply in the examination.

AGE LIMIT:-

--Age criteria should be 21-30 years.
--Upper age relaxation is available to SC,ST & OBC candidates.
--For SC,ST candidates 5 years of age relaxation,i.e age limit is 21-35 years
--For OBC candidates 3 years of age relaxation,i.e. age limit is 21-33 years.

Citizenship:-
-- You must be Indian citizen.


NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS:-

--For open category-4 attempts
--For O.B.C.-7 attempts
--For SC/ST-unlimited attempts

Can a Computer Science Enginnnring Graduate appear for IES exam in Electronics & Communication Engineering stream.
