Re: Any chance to write IES exam after scoring 60% in EC engineering?
IES stands for Indian Engineering Service. It is the most reputed entrance exam for Engineers in India. Since the jobs are reputed and given in various government departments as well Public Sector Undertakings, this exam is quite popular among Engineering graduates.
But it should also be kept in mind that Indian Engineering Service is regarded as one of the most difficult entrance exams in the world. For 600 odd seats there are thousands of candidates who would be applying. Indian Engineering Service is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The exam is conducted on the yearly basis in the 4 branches of Engineering: 1. Mechanical 2. Electronics and Communication 3. Civil 4. Electrical Since you have completed Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communications, it makes you eligible for the exam. You do not have to worry about marks because there is no minimum marks criteria for this entrance exam. Once you have completed B.Tech you can appear for the exam. But before that you should check out the following criteria. IES Eligibility Criteria 1. You should be Indian or Nepali citizen. 2. A subject for Bhutan can also apply. 3. Bachelor degree in Engineering is required to apply. 4. There is no minimum marks criteria. 5. You should be 21 to 30 years old as on January 1st of examination year. 6. A maximum of 3 years relaxation in upper age limit for OBC. 7. Same is 5 years for SC/ST. |

Dear Priya,
The IES Stands for Indian Engineering Services. The Union Public Service Commission conducts the IES Exam once every year. This Exam is conducted for those candidates who have complete B.Tech/B.E. in any stream from any recognized college/university. The Indian Engineering Services Exam is conducted only in the below mentioned streams of Engineering : * Civil Engineering * Mechanical Engineering * Electronics & Electrical Engineering * Electronics & Mechanical Engineering The Qualifications Required for IES Exam are : >> The candidate must have completed Graduation in Engineering from any recognized college/university. >> Candidates in final year of B.Tech/B.E. can also apply. >> The Candidate should not have any pending backlog. >> There is no percentage bar for this exam. >> The Age Limit : ** For General Candidates : 21-30 yrs ** For OBC Candidates : 21-33 yrs ** For SC/ST Candidates : 21-35 yrs >> The candidate must be a citizen of India. >> There is no bar on the number of attempts for the IES Exam. This is the information i have to the best of my knowledge regarding your query. Hope the information will help you to the extent you want. |

Re: Any chance to write IES exam after scoring 60% in EC engineering?
Engineering Graduation in EC stream is definitely sufficient for Engineering Services Exam. There is no percentage bar for this examination, so don't worry about your marks in the engineering. All you need is pass marks in the respective Engineering Degree.
The recruitment is done in the following Engineering Services: -Civil Engineering Services -Mechanical Engineering Services -Electronics Engineering Services -Electrical Engineering Services So according to your stream you can apply for EC services. The syllabus will be according to your stream. Hence you must have very good preparation for this exam. Age Limit: General Category : 21 to 30 years OBC Category : 21 to 33 years SC/ST Category : 21 to 35 years Selection Procedure: -Written Exam -Interview So be prepared for the competition as the number of vacancies are very less for this exam. The posts are of officer level and the exam will difficult and need very thorough preparation. For more information visit http://www.upsc.gov.in |
